Just posted a note from my new cell phone and it works (could only lurk with my old one)...now I'll get even less work done.
So what did you get for your new cellphone? You've had the Motorola Q if I remember correctly...did you go iPhone?
No, I wanted to stay with Windows Mobile, only because I don't feel like switching everything around to Palm's operating system or Apple's (both of which are probably better than Windows)...but I have all my "stuff" set up for it. The Q uses Windows Mobile "Smartphone Edition" which is another way of saying it is lacking in power and functions of the full Windows Mobile software...you can buy some of that functional ability back in aftermarket programs but when you load the phone up with them it starts crashing all the time. It finally froze so bad that even taking the battery out of it didn't unfreeze it...had to do a complete reformat (fortunately data was all backed up). Then ran it for a year without as much software on it, but still froze at times...finally got fed up...missed my old PDA with touchscreen and Windows Pocket PC software (predecessor of Windows Mobile). To make a short story long, I got the Palm Treo 700wx which uses Windows Mobile...got all my old PDA functions back, still have good internet and email function, and the phone works great too. The Q needs some work...it's fans will tell you that it's a phone first and a PDA second...ok, but give me a PDA with a good phone in it.
Cool. I was talking to my nephew Brian who is a new iPhone user and a big advantage to the iPhone is that you can do wifi and take advantage of free hotspots when you want to surf the web.
WiFi is a good option to have...especially if you're not in a cell service area, but the phone gives good internet access anywhere I have cell service, which is pretty much everywhere on my plan...the phone can even be used as a modem for your laptop when you travel...nice if you're in one of those $10 per day WiFi hotels. My son's Father-in-Law has an iPhone...it is really cool...certainly the phone of the future, but still some quirks.
