first <t>think of it as a homework assignment. there's no telling if any of this is even true... but given the story before you, how many do you think there are, and what exactly are they?<br/> <br/> I'm watching Dexter Season 1 right now while my son catches up on his reading. I'll post more later. I just wanted to see if anyone can find them.</t>
I don't pretend to understand the NCAA well enough to know the rules, it's your topic, when you get done with your son and catching up with Dexter let me know. I'm sure it was Cal and S. Cal that broke the rules but am anxious to know what they were.
:? I'm confused. Was Urban poaching a UCLA gymnast along with a WR? Is the girlfriend staying at that apartment along with mom and the star? Where was Mattison while all of this was happening? Inquiring minds want to know.
i'm <t>sorry for the delay, this show Dexter is awesome.<br/> <br/> the answer, off the top of my head is 2. there's 1 other I'd like to look up for clarity, but reading that... there's 2.</t>
Corey, I just thought you would like to know that Moore is on campus ready to start classes.  I'm looking forward to seeing him play, he sounds to be a good prospect.
lol <t>that's good.<br/> <br/> has anyone bothered with the homework assignment btw? if that kid is telling the truth, there's 2 right there in black and white without having to read in between the lines or having to assume anything.<br/> <br/> i hope the kid has a great career btw.</t>
Nope <t>nothing some of us say ever seems to be taken as the truth, I'd just as soon folks do the reading themselves. That way, the next time they read those reports, they will know that not everything going on behind their team is above board.<br/> <br/> Plus, I'm sorta interested to see exactly what people would take from that and perceive it as being against the rules.</t>
Here's another recruiting story.... WR-Darryl Stonum: 2008 Michigan Commit However, one school's persistence trumped all others and they were definitely the biggest threat to the Maize & Blue. The University of Florida stayed on the four star pass-catcher well all the way through. Things crescendoed recently after a conversation with Urban Meyer. According to Stonum, Meyer had a compelling reason why he should become a Gator. He told me that he talked to Coach Carr and Coach Soup and that they told him that I would be a much better fit in the Florida offense than I would be in the one at Michigan, Stonum recalled. I thought, wow, my coaches are selling me out. I confronted them about it. I asked Coach Carr and Coach Soup about it and they said they never talked to that guy and that there was no way they would have ever said anything like that and that they think I should be a Wolverine. I believed them. Right then, I knew just how Florida rolled."
If that story is true George I can't justify it. I follow recruiting on the GatorCountry site and don't remember this kids name being mentioned as one of our possible recruits. I'll snoop around to see if I can find anything.
I would be incensed if Weis or his coaches were recruiting like that but to be honest I don't think those kind of tactics are new...
George, I agree with you. However I might point out that because someone said that does not make it true. I'm not sure if it happened or not but I don't think this kid was ever that high on our priority list and that makes me skeptical. You can go to the Gator recruiting boards and see stories about other people, and we all tend to think our guys are perfect. I have a tendency to overlook most of the accusations whether they are against Florida or anyone else. I'll still let you know if I find out more, I did put an inquiry out on the GatorCountry insider recruiting forum. Last time I checked there were only a couple of responses and I had to go through my hour process of standing on one leg to get cleaned up etc. and a home health therapist is due here shortly so I'll check back later.
Recruiting has always been a tough business and I'm sure that there are many instances of coaches who are less than truthful to the recruits and who trash talk their recruiting foes. But there are also lots of kids and their parents who lie and mislead coaches trying to get some advantage. I don't blame coaches so much who have to deal with parents/kids who are demanding of consessions if Jr signs with their team. They want to hear that their kid is going to be the starter, guaranteed to be the starter...that's without even competing for the job. It's a two way street in too many instances of kids/parents lying to coaches who are lying right back at them. Well except of course for my teams coaches!!
That last sentence kind of says a lot Terry. Our team is always innocent, I feel the same about Meyer!
I had lost track of where this thread was but found it again. George, I posted that quote on the GatorCountry Insider Recruiting board. A couple of people had heard about the comment but most had not. No one really gave it any credibility. I know that is not proof of anything. However one pretty knowledgeable poster posted this. At this point I don't give it a lot of credibility and I doubt I would ever be able to prove one way or the other. I am skeptical though.
