Those kids played outside themselves for the better part of three quarters, against the #7 team in the country, with the longest current win streak in 1A FB. There were a few fortunate calls and bounces that came our way, but I am very pleased with the improvement this team has made. The final quarter made this game look as embarrassing as ever, but the handled themselves well until the talent differential took over. Stanford is a very good, physical team, but the Cougs have nothing to hang their heads about today. Good, physical, hard-nosed, and never-give-up, something we weren't able to say the last four years.
I didn't get to see any games. I left for China at 06:30 on Friday. Looks like I saved myself some stress during the LSU/Tennessee game. I won't be back to see the Bama debacle either. Will be on the road driving to Tennessee during the Tennessee/South Carolina game. Might even be able to attend the Tennessee/MTSU game before running the Tail.
I've seen Wazzoo twice and they looked improved against UCLA. I didn't see their game against Stanford today, but they obviously made the Trees earn it. Better days appear to be ahead... :!:
I do hope so. My major concern is the Coug "faithful" will get impatient with the speed of progress Wulff has shown. This is especially true since most of our tough games are yet to come, @ Oregon, @ Cal (winnable), against ASU, Utah, at UW, all in five straight weekends. I still see 6-6 and a bowl game as a reasonable expectation. Our defense is much more stout, our offense is alive, and our penalties are WAY down. But, if we go 0-5 those last 5 weeks, I see him being asked to leave, which is the wrong decision at this point.
