Even if they don't get back into the major bowl status, they needed to do this in the worst way. Dallas is far enough north that weather on bowl day is always in doubt. Not to mention the Cotton Bowl is old and decrepit and in a very bad neighborhood. I wonder if the Texas/OU game will now make the move? It needs to as well.

I recall going to the '93 Cotton Bowl following the '92 season. There was an ice storm on New Years Eve, and the weather the next day was cold and damp.

That's the truth as I have been working in the shadows of the Cotton Bowl the last several years at the Texas State Fair near where Big Tex stands so tall.

There is a damned good restaurant nearby though.....Two Podners.

A great walkthrough buffet with all kinds of southern vittles. Yumm..

Sounds a lot like what traspired with the Orange Bowl Terry, the only reason the Orange Bowl stayed as a major bowl was that they moved the game to the Dolphin's stadium.

I have a lot of fond memories of games in the Orange Bowl but its not what it once was either.

"As one of the capitals of college football, Dallas should be a part of the BCS. It will be by the next decade."

I absolutely agree with this statement.

One reason I enjoy going to Dallas is that anyone you meet and the key is the girls ( always the key..eh?) in the bars at night always know their football and they are passionate....about football that is.

As someone who grew up in the south I am always appreciative of an environment where college football seems to be on the minds and in the hearts of it's denizens and certainly Dallas is right in that category.

    No surprises in that article.

Everyone in Dallas (except the city council!) has known from the milli-second they decided NOT to replace the Cotton Bowl that the game would move.

It was just a matter of where Jerry was building his Taj Mahal. The Cotton Bowl would have been an original BCS game if not for low capacity and the bad weather. With those factors removed, the old game will return to elite status. (Lord knows there's enough money!)

Dallas has totally screwed the pooch on this one. Not only will they lose their marquis bowl, they will also lose Texas/OU, and quite probably any other games that start up at the Cotton bowl as a replacement.

I'd feel sorry for them, but that city govt screws themselves on EVERY turn, so I just have no tears for them.

I've been fortunate to have attended bowl games in 4 states and by far the most friendly folks were in Dallas. I've been to Cotton Bowls where ND played UT and aTm and in both cases we were treated like guests who were welcome. If it's possible, I'm pulling for the Cotton to get into the mix.
BTW the worst "hosts" I've experienced were the Miami folks who were just hostile, antagonistic and rude. The irionic part is that people in Dallas were more friendly to fans of teams playing local schools that Miami people were to fans of a school playing against Colorado.
