I just want to know what a-hole put this tournament together?!? Our own national team plays in front of a 3/4 full Soldier Field, while Mexico plays to a packed house in Arizona. The President of the Uruguay soccer federation basically said this whole tournament was skewed to help Mexico, and I'll be damned if it doesn't seem that way. First of all, the venues.... what the hell? Why are we never playing in 2 of America's greatest soccer cities, Columbus and Kansas City?!? In true US fashion, we put ourselves behind the 8 ball coming out of the gate with a pant crapping performance against Colombia, but rebounded well to thump a stout team from Costa Rica. Messi is supposed to play in Argentina's next match, Brazil fired everyone but Dunga and his all kid lineup looks pretty good. Uruguay is still pissed off that we played Chile's national anthem while they were in pregame. In defense of whoever made that mistake, Uruguay does have a nearly seven minute long anthem. Whenever we get the chance to host something like this, we mess it up. People often criticize the coach, or the players, but nothing shows a lack of understanding about our own culture than hosting a major tournament and putting US Soccer's Admin under the bright lights...
I watched both USA matches. Did we ever even have a shot on goal vs Columbia? Of course they are #3 in the world and we are outside the top 25 so it doesn't seem all that outrageous. We just killed Costa Rica last night it was fun to watch. I'm glad to see that soccer has a panel of experts to overanalyze and be hypercritical of every mistake or move made by the squads. I thought it was just American football that did that.
Carnage in Orlando tonight. Brazil looks dominant or is Hatti that bad? I guess if we don't screw the pooch vs Paraguay we'll face Brazil, huge upset I guess if we get past them. Will it be considered a good tourney if we do make it to the knock out round? BTW who did choose all these stadiums? U.S. Soccer or some COPA Committee?
The frustrating thing about the Colombia match, was that we had about 8 guys who carried the tempo of play. We had 2 that just shat the bed and that really hurt our offense. Tonight, Brazil is that good and Haiti is that star struck. This Ecuador-Peru game has been fantastic. I love the Copa America and the Euro tournaments. As Americans, I think we have this perception of a unified latino world. The truth is, they all hate each other. They all have had their share of dictators and generalisimos. Some of these games get real ugly, and Uruguay deserves to be hated by everyone.
Norte Mexico represented.. Messi finally goes into the last 30 minutes of a game and gets a hat trick. Big game for the US tomorrow
The US gets a good win against a solid South American side in Paraguay, despite playing down a man for the 2nd half. Somehow, America won the group. I fell asleep before the Colombia match, but it appears their idiot head coach started 10 new players and got beat by Costa Rica....
I haven't seen the draw for the second round but I almost felt that Columbia felt that they'd have a better match up by finishing second.
This goes to show everyone what they get for thinking. Brazil was booted from the tournament by Peru. Ecuador finished 2nd and looks to be red hot.
7-0?????? Hey Corey how happy are you today! But how do you explain that big a butt kicking? Should the coaches and the team plane just go to Havanna?
I actually fell asleep right at kickoff for this game and woke up to the news. I literally could not believe my eyes. I was like a kid on Christmas. I hope they keep everyone on this team and never fire the coach. That is Mexico's worst ever defeat in a competitive international match. As hard as it is to believe, the fans embarrassed themselves more than the team did last night. The replay is on at 1pm CST on FS1. You bet I'm watching it. Twitter is absolute gold with the reactions to this game
I watched every minute of Mexico's horrible humiliation. My original plan was to switch back and forth with the Dodger game, but when the score reached 2-0, and the Mexicans were hanging their heads like school boys who had pooped their pants, I changed my mind. I've seen this before. I know these people. I ran into the office to tell Mrs. JO'Co what what was happening and made my prediction that the Mexicans would lose 10-0. I've known Mexicans and I've known Chileans and you could see this coming like a Tsunami headed for a small Pacific island. I didn't want to miss one, single second of the slaughter and I wasn't disappointed. After the score was at 2-0, the Mexicans seemed to go into slow motion. Their goalie gave up defending both sides of the goal and he never had more than one defender helping him anyway. One player for Chile scored FOUR goals and he had another one called back. That's a hat trick plus one for you fans keeping score at home. My God, this was beautiful! The game was in Santa Clara, with a record crowd full of Mexican poor-sports who (once again) sang their anti-homosexual songs at their opponents. At one point, they were throwing water bottles and trash at the Chilean players who just laughed at them and poured it on even worse. By the end of the game, there were no Mexicans in the stands as the Chileans and their fans partied into the night... I wish that my old pal Mario Pinchiera (former Chilean player) had lived long enough to see this day. It was an historic arse whupping; so bad that Mexico will never live it down. Let us hope that they reflect on this event. Their long history of dishonorable and cowardly behavior has finally come home to roost. I love it.

I knew the O'Connor Clan would be very happy with the Chilean rout of Mexico. Probably a lot of sad faces in East L.A. right now!
That post was made on here in this sports topic on June 8th. Two days before the singer was killed in Orlando and three days before the Pulse massacre. Weird how sometimes life imitates....
