I have to admit I seriously under estimated them. I felt that we lost to them because the Gators didn't play to our capability, however in retrospect I guess we didn't play to the level we expected because this U Conn team is very very good. Congratulations to the Huskies.
UConn just to quick for the bigger Kentucky team. It reminds me so much of the UConn team led by Kemba Walker that won in Houston. If those Kentucky kids come back they would probably go undefeated.
No way those kids come back Terry. Calipari intentionally recruits players who will leave after one year, its one of his big selling points. But you are right, if they come back they would win it all easily.
Rumor of Calipari going to the Lakers. Seems like no one will be left on the Kentucky bench but the white kids who keep their graduation rate acceptable.
Two things: 1) Am I the only one who feels that the general quality of the refereeing was very poor all through the tournament? I understand that they wanted to let the teams play and allowed a much more physical style of play to prevail. What I'm talking about are obvious calls that were missed or mis-called. Granted, with the advantage of TV replay, it's easy to be critical, but the calls/no-calls I'm talking about were obvious in real time. 2) I was reminded last night why I don't like Calipari. He is not gracious. Never has been. Whether in victory or defeat, he never extends a sportsmanlike compliment to the opponent. He said nothing about Uconn. Of course, it's not required, but it usually is a sign of class to be gracious in defeat as well as in victory. Billy Donovan is an example of class that comes to mind. Calipari is not up to the standard set by the Billy Donovans of the coaching world.
Cal to the Lakers, that would be great. He'd ensure that they stay down. Don't get me wrong, he's been an excellent college coach, but not many of those guys not named Larry Brown can do it in both the Pro's and College.
Well congratulations to U Conn for holding both the Men's and the Women's titles. That is quite an accomplishment. Great year by the Irish women, but right now U Conn is in a world of their own.
