You guys really kicked our butts and are definitely the superior team. I'm pulling for you the rest of the way. Well done!
Thanks, George. The Yankees are the gold standard when defining great sports franchises which makes this stunning result even more meaningful.
Mabye the Yanks should raise the payroll to 300 million and they might have shot. How Pathetic.
Congrats to Detroit. After all they have been through, Tiger fans deserve this. Detroit-Oakland...Who wins?? Suprising... Used to seeing a Boston or New York team in the ALCS.
 Congratz to all Tiger fans! Offense in baseball gets overrated again! The game is all about pitching! Now King George will price all the rest of us out of the free agent market for pitchers!
I do not follow baseball much anymore, but was very surprised by the Yankees losing to Detroit. Like any sporting event, one never knows what the outcome may be! Don
Congratulations to the Tiger fans, I'm pulling for the Tigers the rest of the way this year also. If they would win the World Series that would be three years in a row that a team won that has not done so in years.
Classic example of pitching giving the Yankee's the boot!! Bet only Dodger Dog knows what I'm talking about here!!
8) Actually, the most classic example of pitching giving the Yankees the boot was this guy... In the 1963 World Series, the Yankees were the among the greatest offensive machines ever assembled. Besides having guys like Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, Tony Kubek, Tom Tresh, Clete Boyer and Bobby Richardson, they also hit 52 friggen HRs from the catching position (!) by rotating three great catchers there: Yogi Berra, Elston Howard and Johnny Blanchard. The Dodgers were one of the lowest scoring teams ever to make it to the World Series and yet they swept the Yankees in four straight by holding them to the fewest runs ever produced by any team at any time. Its still the record... Game One: Sandy Koufax beat Whitey Ford 5-2. Game Two: Johnny Podres beat Al Downing 4-1. Game Three: Don Drysdale beat Jim Bouton 1-0. Game Four: Koufax beat Ford again 2-1. The mighty Yankees had scored a grand total of 4 runs in 4 games, thanks to Koufax, Drysdale and Podres...
Hey I'm gonna give some credit to Ron Perranowski who finished up for Podres. Sandy and Don, as they did in those days, went the distance.
Hey! Where are the kudos from BDR and JIF? There was a time when slaying the dragon would merit a small "thank you" from those whose villages had been reduced to ashes year-after-year by the fire breating one....
of course..but my concern with going public about this was fear of what could happen to you if a certain Capa di Tutti Capi of the ND Fan Club, South Jersey Shore, found out about the sub rosa help you were providing the Tiger faithful. Your new best friend can be a little cranky about his team........
Sorry for not offering congratulations earlier, Bobda. I was tied up most of the weekend and got on the pc only briefly yesterday. Congratulations to the Tigers and their fans for not only coming back from a Game 1 setback but also winning the last three games of the ALDS in such a decisive manner. Good luck against Oakland.
