Congratulations, Ralph. I did not watch the entire game. Couldn't stay awake. You won despite getting screwed on the roughing the punter call which led to an OK TD. I felt bad for the DT who got chewed out on the sideline when he didn't do anything. The OK punter gave an academy award performance. Maybe the coaches will apologize to him today after seeing the game film.
Yeah, they're starting to come back. You can see the escalation of taunting and spastic gyrations of the players all in line with Hurricane protocol. At least their coach says the can't have any firearms while on the team.
That was a completely different Miami team from the one that just got hammered at Va.Tech. This Miami team looked fast, tough, and well coached. The OU offensive line just isn't up to their usual, everybody knew that would be their achilles heal coming into the season but you figured that with how OU has recruited in the Stoops era that they would be pretty good and get better as the year went along. But it looks like it could be a long year for the Sooners, maybe 4 loss season. Herbie looked at the Miami schedule and didn't see a game where they would not be favored the rest of the way. The key will be not slipping on the road, as young teams sometimes do.
Wow, great win for the Canes against a very tough Oklahoma defense.... Thanks Gents this win sure helps the pain of last weeks loss. All the so called experts had us going 0-4 with us playing four ranked opponents to start the season... 8) We now get the chance to play some backups and rest up some starters with a few somewhat easier games. If we could have eliminated the 115 yards in penalty's and early interceptions this game might have even looked better from a Canes perspective. I am really excited to see Shannons team have success, their was strong talk early in the summer that some alumni had lost patience and wanted to look at replacing him. Sid, rumor has it that the Sooner punter debuts on Broadway next spring. I felt bad for the DT as well, he was getting his butt chewed on the sideline for nothing. Yes Huskerman I agree these players probably didn't hand out girl scout cookies before the game or sing in the mormon choir with the cornhuskers. I did see that they were reading old issues of the Saturday evening post in hopes that Husker fans everywhere would one day love them....
Not really, about all it does is maybe limit us to 1 BCS bowl team, other than that it's business as usual, we have a lot of attractive teams who will go bowling. We aren't likely to have 2 teams in the final top 5 but that's not a disaster. If the Huskers run the table and get to the B12 Champ game they could end up an at large pick after they lose to Texas You know any bowl would like to get the Corn rich, bugeating hordes from Neb in town to fleece them of all their Corndollars!
If OU wins the B12 and gets the Auto Bid and Texas is a 1 loss team then we will have 2 BCS Bowl teams and that is the max a conference can have. I think that is the only way we can get to 2 BCS bowl teams, if a 1 loss Texas team is not the BCS champion.
I think Texas' schedule is suspect. If Stoops puts on on Texas, and wins out, the conference will come into question. I'm not too sure that you get 2 BCS teams...
If OU is the conference champion then no way Texas can make the BCS Title game.....not even with one loss. I just don't think voters are apt to allow one loss teams who are not their conference champs to make it all the way into that game. Now....Texas could make another BCS bowl game and most likely would do that but not Pasadena.
That's what I meant that if Texas is not the B12 Champ and is a 1 loss team then they will get an at large bid, and whoever is the B12 Champ of course will get the auto bid. Of course at large bids are at the discretion of the Bowl operators and subject to their whims, but I can't believe a top 10 1 loss Texas would not get a bid. I believe that the SEC will get 2, the B12 will get 2, the ACC will get 1, the Big East will get 1, the Big 10 will get 1, the PAC10 will get 1, Boise State will get 1. That's 10.
If OU wins the Big12, I have a hard time seeing 2 BCS teams from that conference. It is possible, but we'll have to see. What if Miami wins out but doesn't win the ACC. You're going to tell me that they are going to be left out of a BCS game in favor of the team that couldn't beat OU?
Remember Young One...the At Large Bids are at the discretion of the bowl. So Yes I can tell you that Texas is going to be more attractive to just about every bowl than all the at large teams Rose B10/PAC10 Fiesta B12/At Large Sugar SEC/At Large Orange ACC/At Large. BCS Champ Game BCS1/BCS2 Big East = Automatic At Large Bid So looking at todays rankings trying to project, knowing that 2 teams from 1 conference can not play in the BCS champ game. And that no more than 2 teams from any conference can play in BCS Bowls. UF/VaTech for the NC Which means USC/Ohio State in the Rose OU/at large in the Fiesta At Large/At Large in the Sugar At Large/ At Large in the Orange. So no doubt that the Sugar will take Alabama (or SEC West winner) And the Orange will take Miami to replace Va.Tech That means no more teams from the ACC or SEC Somebody has to take Boise State and as much as OU will hate it, they will have to face them in the Fiesta Bowl. Somebody will have to take the Big East team there is a order to the selection but most likely the Orange will draw the black button. That leaves the Sugar Open and I'll bet they will take a 1 loss Texas team in a heart beat over the 2nd place B10 team or any team from out West.
There's a lot of football left to be played grasshopper. 1. You're assuming Boise loses? As it stands right now, they go ahead of an ACC champ VTech who was beaten soundly by Alabama who (by your scenario) is runner up in the SEC. 2. You're assuming VaTech doesn't stumble somewhere in the regular season in the ACC. 3. Isn't there a new MWC/WAC tie in to the Rose Bowl now or something to that effect? Something about if the Rose Bowl loses one of its participants to the title game, a nonBCS team (if qualified) gets the nod. There's no shame in a 1 loss Texas, but there's other teams that will/could get the nod over them.
