Mark Ingram won the Heisman by 28 votes over Toby Gerhart.

    Congratulations.

I saw Ingram play some great games, and so did Gerhart. I thought it would come down to Colt or Mark, I didn't think Colt would sink to #3.

But the stat that I like most is that 7 out of the last 8 Heisman winners have played in the BCS championship game.....their record is 1-6!! :)

I thought you might like that Terry.

    I'll be tuned in.

Just a friendly reminder for my Tide fans, you are only allowed to claim one Heisman winner per year... :p

All should be very proud of the young men representing their schools.

That stat continues on to bowl games other than the championship game. I have no idea why but the Heisman is usually, not always, the kiss of death in the bowl game.

I'm a SEC fan living in Longhorn country. I used to own longhorns (4 legged variety). It wouldn't kill me to have Texas win, but I will be backing the SEC.

What you mean we can't claim the other 12 Heitman Trophies that we have? I mean with all the preferential press treatment we get, I would think they would all count.

Ingram seems like a good kid from a nice family. Good choice.

Ingram winning proves how much voting value the UF-Tide game had in the minds of the Heisman voters.

Going into the game he was in 4th place in most polls due to serious slippage after the below average game vs. Auburn.

Tebow had a lot to cry about it seems.

    Congrats to Ingram and Bama.

I can't believe that Ingram is the first Alabama player to win the Heisman.

    Congratulations!

It will be interesting to see how this gets spun moving forward.

The Bear, infinite football genius that he was, spun the lack of Heisman winners and used it to further build the legend of Alabama football greatness.

He instilled in the fanbase (for what I thought was forever) that they don't play for Heisman trophies.. They play for titles at Alabama. The fact that they don't have an NC winner is just further proof of their faceless greatness. They play selfless and for the team.

Im not even remotely suggesting that Mr Ingram isn't a wonderful young man and stands for anything other than the best qualities of a Heisman winner.

It will just be interesting to see how this plays out in this state...

If you ever run down the list of great programs while talking to a Bama fan (most likely trying in vein to show them that other people in fact do win football games and titles), you will eventually get to the subject Heisman... This is a trap... It will launch said Bama fan into a 20 minute lecture on everything the Bear ever said about Bama greatness and what defines it..further proving that whatever school you were talking about...amounts to dogsh*t compared to the Tide..

    KP.

:D I was hoping you'd see the humor in it.

    Corey,
Here's the deal from this Alabama fan. I am fine with winning the Heisman as long as the university doesn't create a whole PR office to do it or change the pronunciation of the players name or something similar. I think that however many NC's you want to grant to Alabama, whether it is 6, 9, 12, whatever, is a bigger accomplishment than the Heisman. It's fine to finally have a Heisman but I wouldn't trade it for one NC. I think Ingram will probably celebrate harder that night than last Saturday as well 8) .

Hey Corey, just a theoretical question, do the Bama fans you describe qualify as batshit crazy to join our Gator and Notre Dame batshit crazy club?

They're still crazy, but they have been humbled by down years and probation to the point in which they are somewhat grounded by reality now. They still have their inklings, but they are still way out there.

Bat **** crazy fans have totally jumped the track and are entirely living in a fantasy world that is so crazy it doesn't even exist in their own minds...yet they are sure of the existence of said greatness
