Colorado has started the ball rolling.

    Colorado Bolts To Pac 11

I guess the breakup of the Big 12 is inevitable now.

From the sounds of things Terry Texas is going to do quite well.

Probably the 16 team Mega Conferences are inevitable now.

I'm hoping the SEC invite to A&M that has been rumored is true.
Travel alone makes it much more attractive to me than the PAC, but there are lots of other plusses... not to mention finally breaking off from our hippy cousins from Austin.
    :p

Interesting, indeed, re: travel distance & expense, not to mention the harsher winter weather in Big 10 country as it affects travel. Nebraska has generally the same weather patterns as the midwest, so it's not a stretch for the Huskers. Texas......much different story. I can't see any southern-based school opting for the Big 10.

No doubt travel wise the SEC makes more sense. Esp if A&M gets in the SEC west where trip to Auburn would be the long haul.

KC TV5 is reporting Texas and Texas A&M petitioning to join the B10.

    This is incredible.
With OK petitioning to go to the SEC do you think that the SEC would want to add some ACC teams like Miami, FSU and Clemson?
If the Big East loses Rutgers could that take in some of the remaining ACC teams such as Duke and NC? Hell what a Bball conference that would be.
And if the Big East hung in there, ND's problems would be temporarily solved......maybe.

Gipper, one rumor is that Va Tech has been invited to the SEC.

As far as FSU, Miami and Ga Tech, probably not. They don't add much in the way of TV coverage that the SEC doesn't already have.

And at one time or another all three teams spurned the SEC. Ga Tech dropped out sometime in the 60's or 70's and Miami and FSU both went for easier conferences in the late 80's.

Va Tech, Oklahoma, Texas and Texas A & M all make sense as would one or two of the North Carolina schools.

Going to be interesting as to how this plays out.

Missouri suddenly found themselves on the outside looking in didn't they?

WTF?? I can't imagine us petitioning to join the Big 10.
A&M AD Bill Byrne already voiced huge concerns over travel with the PAC arrangement... the Big 10 would be similar.

I think this one is just a scenario somebody threw out...

Bill I think the SEC is where A&M really wants to be... but timing may kill the deal.
Your guys may not be ready to make the offer, and we might not be comfortable waiting on a "maybe".

Seeing as I can drive to about half the SEC opponents, I'd much rather go that direction, but I can live with it if we go west.

The PAC16 would be a hell of a baseball conference!
