Well Bowl Game Phenom, Miller Moss, has been benched by Lincoln Riley at USC. USC is making a change at quarterback, replacing starter Miller Moss with UNLV transfer Jayden Maiava, sources confirmed to ESPN. After the Trojans lost four of their past five games and fell to 4-5 on the season, coach Lincoln Riley will opt to give the sophomore starting reps when they host Nebraska on Nov. 16. USC is currently on its second bye week of the season. Moss began the season by leading the Trojans to a signature victory over LSU in Las Vegas, but he has regressed over the past few games.
OK the committee has spoken, not much difference between their ranking and the AP poll. 1. Oregon vs Maryland Long flight to Eugene for 1 and 2 Maryland isn't very good. Ducks should have no trouble paddling their way to a big win. 2. Ohio State vs Purdue Oh boy, say a prayer for the Boilermakers 3. Georgia @ Ole Miss This shapes up as a really good game, Georgia has some offense problems and Ole Miss is coming off a 600yd performance in the Hills vs Arkansas. Dawg defense isn't likely to give up even maybe half that, but will Carson Beck throw 3 picks again? It's an elimination game for Ole Miss 4. Miami @ Ga. Tech Nice trip for the Hurricanes up to Hotlanta, you can bet that the 'Canes will start slow and finish fast. 5. Texas vs Florida Gators gave UGA a good game for a half but they lost their QB and the 3rd string guy was not up to the job. I've seen that Napier thinks DJ Lagway might be able to play. Never mind the Horns are coming off a bye and are tanned and ready to take the Gators to the boot shop for some nice new Gator Skin Cowboy boots! 6. Penn State vs Washington Long flight from Seattle to Happy Valley where a motivated Nit squad will be ready for them. PSU defense is the key to this game. 7. Tenn vs Miss State Roll Vols 8. Indiana vs Michigan This is a moment for the Hoosiers, Michigan is struggling with QB play while the Hoosiers have a Heisman candidate. But this will be the best team IU has faced and certainly the best defense. Not to mention IU rarely beats those guys. We'll see. 9. BYU @ Utah At the start of the season Utah was the favorite to win the Big12, BYU predicted to finish near the bottom. But things have changed, Utah has cratered and BYU has ascended. Never know though in these rivalry games. 10. ND vs FSU Well back in the start of the season this was going to be the marquee game of the Irish schedule, which is why it's in Prime Time on NBC. But FSU has cratered worse than Utah and if the Irish show up ready to play (unlike NIU) we should have no problem.
2 other big games outside the top 10. Alabama @ LSU Might be the biggest game of the day, and an elimination game for both teams. Both have really good QB's and it's at Tiger Stadium. I tend to give the edge to the Tide based on their defense alone and the fact that nobody has ever called Kelly Big Game Brian! South Carolina @ Vanderbilt No real home field advantage for Vandy like what we saw at South Carolina last week with the crowd going nuts the whole game. Hard to pick against South Carolina, they have a great defense and apparently their QB can not be tackled. Vandy's Diego Pavia might end up being carried off the field against that Gamecock defense.
I long for the days when my Gators were relavent for these discussions. Personally I think Georgia has the best chance of winning it all.
Georgia is as good a pick as anyone. I think that LSU, Texas, Ohio State, Oregon would all be other good picks.
First surprise of the week! I'll be curious what Bill has to say. Billy Napier will continue to coach Florida, according to athletic director Scott Stricklin, who put to rest rampant speculation about the embattled coach's future with the Gators. In a letter Thursday, Stricklin stressed the need for a "disciplined, stable approach" and asked Florida fans to "continue standing behind Billy and his dedicated team while we work together to build a championship program." Florida to stick with embattled Napier as coach
I guess it indicates that there is some optimism about Florida's future. Either that or they are just delaying the announcement until after the season.
Longhorns are walking all over the Gators. 35-0 at the half. Gators just have been hurt badly by all of their injuries. We should see Arch in the 2nd half.
I see that Diego Pavia has sued the NCAA trying to get another year eligibility. I like the kid and how he plays, but I'm sorry he's dead wrong in this and I hope he loses. He claims his 2 years of Jr. College Football shouldn't coun amongst other things. Pavia, from Albuquerque, New Mexico, told ESPN last month that he didn't have a single FBS or FCS scholarship offer coming out of high school. Only two Division II schools -- Western Colorado and Western New Mexico -- gave him a chance to play quarterback. He played two seasons at New Mexico Military Institute, a two-year junior college, before transferring to New Mexico State, where he played in 2022 and 2023. He enrolled at Vanderbilt in June with the belief that he would have only one season of eligibility. Vandy QB Pavia suing NCAA over eligibility rules
Gators put up a better fight in the 2nd half and out scored the Longhorns 17-7. Longhorns still win 49-17 and put up 560 yds of offense on them. Miami losing to Ga.Tech with 2 minutes to go but I think the Canes are getting the ball back and have time to go with another Cam miracle finish to win 30-28
