I can not remember so many resignations in one season as this year, especially immediate resignations. I do understand Jerry Kills resignation due to medical health concerns at Minnesota. Some of the others baffle me.
There reasons are all different that's for sure. Kill has had ongoing medical issues. Spurrier was just tired I guess and had been thinking about it. O'Leary was also planing on retiring and this year has been even worse than what Spurrier was going through at So.Carolina. Golden...well his personal safety was probably an issue Sark..drank his way out the door Illini Coach ...abused his players and they kicked him out. So they have been on a interim all year. But there will be some more who aren't going to make it to next year but will finish the season.
 Too funny..... I agree with Don in that the high amount of resignations in mid season is peculiar.
I forgot Maryland Coach Randy Edsall was fired. I think the RU Coach is on his way out, the UVA coach isn't likely to survive, the Purdue coach is struggling to ge that program turned around. Colorado is terrible, but I don't know how long that guy has been there.
To clarify, Jerry Kill retired. Of course you can parse words and say it's the same as resigning, but it's really not. Ask Spurrier.
As I understand it Kill is retiring for health reasons. He's had some serious health issues the past couple of years. I get the impression that if he could he'd keep coaching. That's not the same with Spurrier and O'Leary who voluntarily quit in mid season.
A couple of years ago I was informed by an ex-coworker that the VP who was standing at my desk with two empty boxes that I was packing after 23 years of service after getting laid off in the Great Recession... was himself "retiring effective immediately" etc. etc. lmao... etc. He was only about 63.... hmmmmm .... and he had no known health problems. As my wife had predicted.... what goes around comes around... in a word... the feeling around the office was that he was fired. ( awww too bad )
Darrell Hazell is reportedly coming back to Purdue for his 4th year. His win vs Neb last week was only his 2nd B10 win in his time at Purdue.
You and Stu are the only members who really follow Purdue, what do Purdue fans feel? Do they think he's a good coach who is close to turning the program around.
Believe it or not, I really don't interact with many Purdue fans. I know the attendance is hurting, but they just announced a multi million dollar stadium improvement project. I don't know what they're going to do, but I'm guessing they're not increasing the capacity.
A lot of unhappiness with Hazell's record. I myself think that it is to early to fire him. I am glad he is coming back...but some improvement needs to happen. He did a marvelous job at Kent State and I had (have) very high hopes for him. The new practice facility improvements are absolutely necessary...if we are to compete in recruiting. All schools keep ratcheting up the quality of their facilities and you keep up or you fall way behind in your ability to recruit. Purdue is at or near the bottom of the conference in practice facilities and "football complex" from what I understand. I don't think they're that bad...but this is becoming a real arms race.
