Today's the day. I don't think we have ever had 3 undefeated teams left at the end of the season. So do they go just by record? Do they go by conference championships? How does strength of schedule figure into the equation? How much weight does head to head carry? Should be interesting. I kind of figure that, given the chance, the committee will probably keep the SEC out of the playoffs for the first time. Wipe that smile off of your face, Corey
There will be unhappiness for sure. It's hard to believe that the SEC will be left out, but that could happen for sure. To me based on "the best 4".. 1. Washington they have played a tough schedule and to me pass all the tests as the best team 2. Michigan 3. Texas 4. Alabama Those are the 4 "best" teams IMHO. Now if the committee goes with FSU based on being an undefeated conference champion rather than one of the 4 best teams...well what can we do.
A roller coaster ride this season. I am glad we are moving on to a 12 team playoff, the 4 team thing is history and I am looking forward to next year. I grew up in a family that did not feel you had to be happy all the time. Think about it and enjoy life.
I really thought Georgia would win yesterday so I had resigned myself to not being in the playoffs, and I understand all of the arguments for FSU and Texas being in the Final Four. I also think that either Georgia and/or Alabama are among the best 4 teams in the country at this time so I'm not going to commit suicide if we don't make it.
Wow! M v Bama will be a great match up. But, an undefeated Power 5 school getting left out? Stunning.
Supposedly the reasoning of the playoff committee, was that with a power 5 qb injured and not able to play, was the reason for their demotion. I can well imagine my reaction if Ohio State was the college involved. Dammed if you do and dammed if you don't. I do not have a good answer.
Perfect ending to a cluster-f*ck of a year for NCAA football. An undefeated team got screwed to force Alabama and the SEC into the playoff. FSU was 100% screwed having a perfect record. I am just sick of this game.
I’m not “sick of this game” like George but I completely agree that FSU got screwed. No offense to kp and Terry because both AL and TX are deserving, but that doesn’t change what happened to FSU. And I’ve never been an FSU fan. If you disagree, close your eyes and imagine if it was your team.
Actually, Georgia, Texas, Ohio State, Alabama all would have a claim to the 4th spot if FSU had been included. This all sounds kind of like selection Sunday for March madness when one of the favorites gets upset early in the conference tourney. I can understand the FSU fans being upset. Not much an Alabama fan can do about it though.
I predict Michigan, Washington, Texas, Alabama. Now for a real predictionTexas vs Alabama for all the Marbles. One SEC team and a future SEC team.
Bobby Bowdens decision to not go into the SEC and go to an easier conferece comes back to bite the Noles. The committee got it right and I believe the DAWGS hammer FSU in the Orange Bowl.
thanks Don and if I am gone to long someone email me. My age is catching up with me a bit and I am not as active as I once was.
Everyone who says the committee got it right is expressing a subjective judgement, just like I am by saying that FSU got screwed. Speaking of committees:
Meh... college football ended for me when I walked out of Kyle field for the last time back in Nov. I was a little sad, but paid mercenaries playing for different teams each year in giant super conferences is not what I loved.
Have to agree Scott. I hear that some of these players are getting over a million a year to play college ball. Hard to believe but NIL changed things in a manner that is hard to believe and not what the intent was. From one extreme to another. Sad
