Buckeyes off and running with another slow start n the firsts half of the Akron game. Smith first round freshman star, appears to be a winner. Offensive line still struggling, our rushing game should help the passing game. Much work needed if we are to compete for the title this year.
OL clearly a work in progress as it looked "clunky" for much of the day. Missing 1 starter out yesterday and two new additions this year to the interior, they looked the part of a new group that needs time to gel/work out the kinks and they are plentiful. QB appears serviceable, clearly (imo) a step down as a passer from McCord but a much superior run threat. I expect Q run to be a more important part of the Kelly offense vs the vertical passing game that Day often featured. Young freshman Smith appears worthy of the hype. He already looks to be WR1 in a room full of primary target capable dudes with 1st Rd draft grades and years more experience. He has a very bright future. Defense looks to be as advertised tho we won't know much more until they play somebody with a pulse. All in, a successful opener.....
Anybody notice that Hudson Card went 24 of 25 for Purdue yesterday before being relieved in the middle of the third quarter? I know it was just Indiana State but gives me thoughts that we just might have to be taken seriously this year.
Re: Purdue. They were picked to finish last in the Big 10. They'll be playing with a chip on their shoulder.
Their offense is really ineffective. Uiagalelei has had 2 very bad starts so far. 21 yards rushing for the Seminoles. Amazing.
