Practice begins for Florida on Friday in basketball and the sport is very highly anticipated in Gainesville this season probably more than at any time since 2007 when UF was coming off one National title and firmly headed for a repeat in 07-08 with a roster full of NBA talent. https://www.gatorsports.com/2019/09/dooley-gators-begin-basketball-practice-amid-high-expectations/ If things get rough for the football team in October with that brutal schedule to come I can always get distracted by the promise of a fun basketball season.
Irish not likely to be better than an average team. But who knows, we get a Sr. Captain back from injury and we had some freshman who played a lot last year and hopefully are better, but the ACC is likely to be as good and deep as ever so it could be another tough year. Texas has a highly recruited big man from the same HS as Sam Ehlinger the UT QB. But patience is wearing thin on Shaka Smart with the fans. Middle of the pack in the Big 12 and a 16-16 record overall wasn't great, but he did win the NIT so there's that. SI has us #6 in a 10 team league....
Buckeyes open practice Friday as well. Looking forward to a respectable season with only one senior on scholarship and three 4 star freshmen in the mix. Should be a fun season and I hope we can finish in the top five in the conference.
Yeah Terry if White at UF had those kinds of seasons 4 years running he would be in trouble I think and gone from a school like Kentucky. Winning the NIT might buy him some time for sure.... but I would say the Horns need to make the NCAA tourney this year or else.....
Purdue kind of an unknown...have some players coming in and coming back but hard to imagine replacing the shooting of Carson Edwards and Ryan Cline. Painter seems to get the most out of whatever he's got. Evolution of Matt Painter: Most malleable coach in college basketball
Georgia Tech nailed by the NCAA. 4 years probation, no NCAA tourney this season. Fines, and mandated to disassociate themselves from a number of former players and boosters/friends of the program. Ga. Tech gets probation, 1-year postseason ban
