Yesterday February 19th seemed to be the start of the college baseball season. http://www.d1baseball.com/ Sort of hard to famthon with all the snow and cold weather we have here in the Midwest and upper Ohio Valley. Buckeyes always start their season in Florida. We won 4-2 over Northern Fl. Don
Next week will be the Big East/Big 10 Challenge in Fla. Irish will play Illinois, Ohio State and Penn State. We are in Mississippi this weekend to play Miss Valley State in a 3 game series. We won the opener. Irish are not expected to be a NCAA team this year, but who knows, that's why we go ahead and play the games. Local team, Rice, is expected to be in the mix to get to the CWS, they opened on the road at Stanford yesterday with a loss. Texas is also expected to be in the mix for the CWS, also won yesterday in Austin vs New Mexico.
Ahhh one thing that folks don't have a chance to degrade or slander is the University of Miami baseball that has kept clean and pure since Ron frazer coached the team (And helped put college baseball on the map)and we hope to get back to the CWS after missing last years...Friday was our first game as well and turned out great with a 12-1 win over Rutgers in a 3 game series. RC
The Aggies have started their run to Omaha with a 3 game sweep of Seaton Hall. After last year's melt-down no one is looking for us to do much. Ambush time! 8)
Gators opened their season with a win. Here in North Carolina it's hard to believe people are playing baseball also. The snow is finally melting in my yard. Ron Frazer did a great job in Miami. He had to do a lot of the fund raising to build the stadium and support the team. The Gators make the CWS from time to time, have made one final where they lost to Texas, but have a hard time being consistent.
Is So.Cal under legendary coach Rod Dedeaux (yup he was born in New Orleans) the greatest program ever? He won 10 CWS, nobody is even close to that.
Yeah, well we opened the season with a 7-5 loss against Fresno St. We gave up 4 runs in the 9th. But you know what happens when you lose your 1st game of the season don't ya boys? Yeap, your 0-1.... :x
That's a pretty good running form that kid's got. I wonder where he adapted it from...running from the sherrif's dept. city cops, or state troopers?
Hmmm could be....He WAS recruited from the fine state of Nebraska...But I'm sure coach Morris will be able to teach him to spell and write his name by the time he graduates... What in the world was I thinking when I said no one could say much negative about the Canes baseball team when the Huskerman is floating around... Canes beat Rutgers today in the third game of the weekend to go 3-0 for our first series of the season...We even got a nice new shiny scoreboard to share the scores.. RC
Ralph, No doubt Miami has been a great baseball venue for a number of years. My Buckeyes are off to great start 3-0 and scoring 40 runs for the first time, in the openingt three games, since 1996. Head Coach Bob Todd won his 1000th game yesterday against Richmond!
Larry, dropping back to local HS baseball. I see the Chronicle has your Bellaire boys as the top team and a kid from the Woodlands (Jameson Traillon) as maybe the #1 HS pitcher in the country....have you seen him pitch?
Irish sweep Miss Valley State, but I don't think it means anything other than they are 3-0. MVS probably not much better than a high school program.
Terry............ <t>Bellaire is loaded again this year so I will catch my usual amount of games in person.<br/> I have not seen the Woodlands kid in person but did see him pitch this past year on TV in the annual Aflac game and he is a hoss. 6-7 and he struck out the side against real good hitters and all were made to look silly. He signed with Rice but doubt he will ever put on their uni. The Houston area is loaded with pitching this year.<br/> Batter up this week.</t>
