Looks like he did. NE got a 1st place vote!! The USA Today preseason poll 1. Florida (52) - 13-1 2. Texas (4) - 12-1 3. Oklahoma (1) - 12-2 4. Southern California (1) 12-1 5. Alabama - 12-2 6. Terry and AJ, Spurrier agreed to not vote Duke at 25. Whether he voted Nebraska at number 1 is kind of doubtful. That's really unusual for a team out of the top 5 to get a first place vote. Did Osborne vote?
I's also a good editing job... Check out the original post. Tennessee out of the top 25 and off the radar... We got 'em just where we want 'em!
I would agree. It's not the 1st time it's ever happened to NE. In 1990, NE defeated the Baylor Bears 13-0. At the time, UMiami was the #1 team and garnered all the votes that week, except one. The Univ of Nebraska received a 1st place vote while being ranked # 8 that year.
Bill, It wasn't because he (HC Grant Teaff) thought they were the best team. He voted them #1 that week because of the presentation of class shown by the Coaches, Team and fans before, during and after the game. He was so impressed with what he saw that it spurred him to write a letter that followed that vote sent to the chancellor indicating how impressed coach Teaff was. It was mostly due to the fact of the fans gathering around his team after the game applauding their efforts and thanking them for a good game.
Thanks for that information AJ and I have to admit that was classy. I am afraid a lot of our fans would have run back to their computers to start complaining about the team, the coach and the referees. But I also meant nice work in editing the votes!
