He continues to draw me in. Bringing inky Johnson back to motivate the team is just another example of him doing the right things for the program. I'm posting this video of Inky addressing the team. I will then post the devistating video of the injury he had during the Air Foce game with Cindy and I in attendance. Please watch both. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/MOWgQ7x63Vs" frameborder="0"></iframe> <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/YFgqLsotzm0" frameborder="0"></iframe>
I see this often, when a new coach takes over, the old guard is invited back. I assume it's a means for the new coach to connect himself to the best of the past with the program. Whether you like Miami or not, that is one thing the Hurricanes have always been, close to their past players. A lot of them come back to Miami in the off season and work out. Now it doesn't hurt that Miami is a pretty awesome place to be after the NFL season and before the camps open. Hot chicks, NIght Life, Awesome beaches. But for whatever the reason it's always comforting to see old players come back and share good times and feelings with the kids and encourage them to work hard and do well.
Sid, It is the oldest existing part of the University. It is marked by Ayres Hall behind the North Endzone of Neyland Stadium.
Thanks for posting Tom, I did not know about him or his injury. Great that a person can sustain a setback in their life then rise above it to inspire others.
Inky is an inspiration to many... including me. Cindy and I were so happy to be at the Air Force game. We met General Edwards for his pregame tailgate. George Edwards was the commander of the Air Force base in Austin before it closed. He is a graduate of West Point and the University of Tennessee. He came to that game with both Air Force and Tennessee colors. He warned us... make sure you are at your seats during the National Anthem. He would not tell us why. The first two pictures below will tell you why. The rest of the pictures are of the Inky Johnson injury aftermath.
I love football, but it surely is a sport where your whole life can change with one play. Glad this young man as taken a lemon and made lemon aid. Those are great shots of the planes flying over.
I didn't know about Inky before, but after watching him talk to those players he's an outstanding young man and I hope he has a lot of success in what he is doing now and in the future.
