I've heard clips from an interview, on wide ranging topics, that Bill Clinton gave from South Africa. I thought I was listening to CNN on XM but I can't find it on the CNN website.

But I found a couple of things interesting.

    1. He said he thought they needed to stop trying to place blame and just plug the hole. He said everybody knows they need to just bring in the Navy and blow it up, not with a nuke, but with conventional weapons. Pile tons of rock and debris on it and be done with it.

    2. On Afghanistan, he had interesting insight, he kept using athletic contest analogies. Said we were the away team and that we need to flip that so we are the home team. He said that we could never win by overwhelming force, that they are the home team and aren't going anywhere and eventually we will go home. Said we have to get into the communities and villages and find out what they want, get them on our side and then build them up and they will support us and we'll start having home team advantages. He didn't think it was a good idea to tell them we were leaving at a certain time either.

    3. He was pretty relaxed and you could tell he still felt like he was the best guy to solve these problems. Maybe he is. I'm starting to think we'd have been much better off if Hillary had won and Bill had come along to guide her.

Thank you Terry for that bit of honesty.

I absolutely feel that way and I did not vote for Obama.

The guy may have been dumb with his wang but he is actually very smart otherwise and spent 8 years dealing with the issues we face and his wife is pretty damned bright as well. A tag team tackling our immense problems would have been more effective I believe.

Some distrusting part of me says BP has been dragging their feet a little because they still want to harvest the oil any way they can.

I agree with him on blowing up the well. I can't believe that wasn't tried 70 days ago.

Hillary unquestionably would have been a better president than Obama or McCain.

If the Dems get wiped out in November, which seems fairly certain at this point, look for Hillary to resign as SoS and start her run for president.

In my opinion, Afghanistan is completely unwinnable.

The Russians should have taught us a lesson about Afghanistan.

We needed to do what we did initially in retaliation for 9-11 and get Osama on the run.

In fact...if we had left after 2-3 years I'll bet the snake would have stuck his head out of the hole and had it cut off by now.

Too bad for Hilary her resounding win in Michigan during the primaries didn't count toward nomination....which I just don't fathom anyway.

I also think Bin Laden is dead and has been for years. He was too much in love with the camera to stay hidden for all these years.

In any case he doesn't matter any more.
