Pretty powerful speech by Bill Clinton.

Even GOP strategists have acknowledged it with one saying that the DNC after that can just lock the door and go home.

The key to it as I have read is that he brought the centrist themes back into the party's forefront.

If Obama can capture that idea and promote it he is a lock in November.

Sorry Dems, but it speaks volumes when you have to count on one of only two men in the history of our country to have been impeached to "deliver". A disgraced President is not the guy I would want holding the party banner

BT I wouldn't expect you or any other far righty to view Clinton.....the witch hunt target of the GOP extremists in the 90s.....any other way.

The problem for the GOP conservatives is the rest of America doesn't share those extremists views and they know a political sham/witch hunt when they see one.

    I like this part
This demonstrates how Obama's White House completely ignored Republicans when they had control of both houses. As soon as they lost control of the House, we started hearing that the Republicans were "obstructing" Obama's economic program. All of a sudden the word "compromise" sprang up from nowhere. You reap what you so.

The problem with far left progressive democrats is that no else shares those extremist views.

    Was Clinton impeached or not?

"The voting in the House and Senate was largely partisan. In the House, only five Democratic Representatives voted to impeach. In the Senate, which had 55 Republican Senators, none of the Democratic Senators voted for conviction."

    ...come on man.....

And you don't think the views of the far left as amplified in the Democratic Party platform are extremist? What planet are you living on? Your perception of the "rest of America" certainly is skewed. Come on, man.

Every sitting president in the history of our nation has been a "witch hunt target" by elements of the opposition. Every single one....
How many other presidents have ever had ANY members of their own party vote to impeach? Jesus man, that's like asking Mrs Lincoln other than the gunshots, how did she like the play???? wtf?

Only Andrew Johnson shares with Clinton the dubious distinction of having disgraced the office of the Presidency so egregiously so as to force the articles of impeachment......spin it any way you want lefty, Johnson too had his shills, but his legacy will always begin and end with "impeachement"...so too Clinton...

A party that demonizes success and worships those who disgraced the highest office in the land and therefore their country cannot possibly be capable of leading our country forward....

This poll shows just how much I am on an island here on this board:

    http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entry/poll-ahead-of-dnc-speech-bill-clintons-favorability

Note that it is a Gallup poll.....not a private opinion a la Rush style...

In any event all of you here that reside in the 27%.... which obviously you do.... cannot win this never ending pi**ing match with me over Bill Clinton.

I will agree he is no doubt the most popular president ever, disgraced in office and subjected to impeachment in the House. Congrats to him and the Dems for having him as their standard bearer....

    Mark it down.....

Bill Clinton lost his license to practice law because he committed perjury a felony. I really don't care if 99% of the people in this country view a felon favorably.
He lied to get out of the draft.
He lied to try to get out of the Paula Jones lawsuit.
He lied last night speaking for a man who 4 years ago called him and his wife racists.
As Lincoln said, you can fool some of the people all of the time.

Yes...yes you can and the GOP spin doctors/brain washers do a pretty damned good job galvanizing their faithful into rigid unbridled loyalty.

Perhaps, but there is just something about the Founding Fathers and the Constitution that inspires faith.....they are the original spin doctors and the Constitution the ultimate original "yarn"....call me guilty.

This administration and the radical lefty path he seeks for our country has them spinning in their graves while they watch the constitution get pissed on and the basic concepts of personal freedom, accountability and self-determination upon which a great nation was founded become forgotten relics....

Clinton is an interesting character to be sure.

Elected president as a small time governor with a reputation for cheating on his wife. Takes office and rides the dot.com bubble although he did have the good sense to not get in the way. Spent most of his time trying to hamstring or do away with the CIA. Gets head from a 22 (?) year old intern in the Oval office while a foreign ambassador cools his heels in the anteroom. Tells a ridiculous lie on camera which guys laughed at but women loved the devil in him. Rather than own up he does a "Pete Rose" and lies under oath and gets himself impeached and dis-barred.

Twelve years later he is welcomed back in the Lib fold as a conquering hero, sent in to save the ass of a guy he despises.

    Life sure is funny.

    TBG,

What's a far righty?...inside the foul pole at Yankee Stadium?

BTW, didn't the DNC take a vote to annex GOD from any poli speak issues....and when replayed 4 times it sounded like the nays were louder, but they gave it to aye's anyway...in the opinion of the speaker of course...

    re: Witch hunt, extremists etc.

Uh...exqueeze me, but Clinton pleaded guilty to lying under oath and obstruction of justice to avoid prison...

BTW- nobody...and I mean NOBODY in American politics hates Barack Obama more than Bill Clinton.

This Obama campaign strategy is the most amazing thing I've ever seen. He's running on the record of a disgraced Bill Clinton, who hasn't been president in 12 years, while he runs against George W. Bush, who hasn't been president in 4 years. As we like to ask the first graders, "What's wrong with this picture?" Hasn't somebody else been president the LAST four years? What about HIS record?Inquiring minds want to know...

    George kinda nailed it.

But I'll take the bait here Dave. I am not one of those 'righties' you like to paint. In fact, I'm socially left of probably everyone on this board on either side. It's fiscally where I am conservative.. That being said... here's the thing.

You don't even see the idiocy in this statement:
If this current platform is so far to the left that Bill Clinton is considered 'centrist', then this platform is the left handed cousin of communism. Clinton was no centrist.

To me, there is a reason why history is important to one party and not the other. Just in my life time (old as I may be, it's but a blip) I've seen one side continually try to re-write their own history while ignoring the factual events.

Then again, you're a fan of the super conference format ;)
