How in the world can ownership of the Eagles justify this contract pf 32.5 million for five years, with no NFL experience? http://tracking.si.com/2013/01/20/chip-kelly-contract-32-million-eagles/?sct=hp_t2_a7&eref=sihp
I think they really wanted him. But I remember how much the Redskins owner wanted Spurrier and made him the the highest paid coach in2001 at $5 million a year. As great a college coach as Spurrier is his offense didn't carry over to the NFL, at least with the Redskins. We will see if Kelly's does.
I wonder if they offered Brian anything or were using him for leverage to hold down Chip's salary.
That's a lot of money for sure for an unproven coach. Remember he's not a coach with a long resume in college either. He's only been a HC in FBS for 4 years. That's very short on experience. Of course Jim Harbaugh was only at Stanford for 4 years so his resume was thin as well. Good luck to him.
I do wonder if they 1) offered Brian Kelly the job and 2) if the salary was north of 5M. If so that's a lot of money to turn down, would pretty much secure his future.
