Seems as if most are predicting these match-ups: http://cfn.scout.com/2/819021.html Lot's of interesting storylines and will make for a compelling must see bowl season.
the media is way more in love with the idea of Texas/Ohio State than most fans are IMHO. I know I don't care to see them play for the 3rd time in 4 years in a game that doesn't mean squat. Back when this was a preview to a possible title tilt, people cared. Now that Ohio State has been butchered in back to back NC games and drop kicked by USC this season, the game just doesn't hold that same appeal. I'd go, I'd think it would be fun to attend...but that has a lot more to do with each school having a crazy fan base and lots of tradition. What if Utah beats Alabama? Worse yet, what if it is convincing? Would that give Utah claim to the National Title? If not... why not.. It is the only claim Florida has.
The only clim UF could have to the MNC would if it is selected for and wins the BCS+1 game. WOW .... you've become quite the Gatorhater and somewhat anti-Tebow. 8) Maybe Alabama does that to people. Coaches Poll: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/football/usatpoll.htm
WTF are you talking about? So blinded by your orange and blue koolaid that you can't see there are: 2 undefeated teams with no hope of playing in the title game 5 once beaten teams with at least as much claim to playing in the title game as the Gators. I see a question in the system. You see that as a question to Gator entitlement. Perhaps that is an indicator of a flaw in the system?
You say I "drink the koolaid" I say nope ... you're just a Gatorhater. AP Poll: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/football/appoll.htm
Two years ago there wasn't the same comparison. USC had lost in the last week of the regular season and removed itself from consideration. Last year I was railing against LSU getting the 'preferred members club' entrance to the title game. Was I a Gator hater then too? I'm not knocking the Gators. What they did last night was impressive and they've had a great year. It is my contention that there are others that are as deserving..to both Florida and Oklahoma... This season, USC lost the same week (in fact 2 days prior) to Florida. Like Alabama they have a balanced offense but with more firepower and they may even have a better defense if that's possible. Then you have Texas... who lost a game to a once beaten foe on the last play of the game.. Then you also have Texas Tech, who was mauled by Oklahoma but managed to beat Texas. There's cases all over the place for other teams. Then there's the matter of the 2 unbeatens. If you can't see that... then you're not just drinking the blue/orange koolaid, you're swimming in it.
Well ... I guess the fact that UF just played itself into the BCS+1 game by winning a semi-final playoff game against the undefeated #1 ranked team in the nation ...... while Percy Harvin and Cornelius Ingram plus its #3 and #4 DT's were sidleined with injuries ....... makes them the best choice for a slot in the game. And, AFA Texas and USCw are concerned, how many wins do they have in 2008? Hey ...... I don't mind swimming in O&B koolaid and being correct.
The endless debate of who should be elgible to play for a national championship does get old (and I don't mean you guys). We seem to hit the replay button over and over again when it comes to which division 1 team is worthy... It sure would be nice to play it on the field like other NCAA teams do. Can you say PLAYOFF.. But until they do we will never truly know...And given enough time without change there are those who won't care... Sunburst
According to who? The media... USC played their schedule (which doesn't need an fluffed up conference title game to find an actual onfield champion) and emerged with one loss. Texas played theirs and were left out of the 'title game' because the pollsters decided to create more drama than was needed and ignore onfield results.
So you don't think too much of the way the SEC title was decided yesterday? Two excellent teams from different divisions who were not playing a rematch and who both executed a great game on a neutral field. Hmmmm.....how would you have improved this one?
LOL ... that's funny ... considering the NCAA ranks USCw's schedule at #70. RE TExas .... I guess it's too bad they "signed on to" the Big-12 tie breaker determination process. Did they not know the rules prior to playing the 2008 season??? Hey, if Texas is unhappy, maybe they should joing the PAC-12?
You've been talking all day about staying away from speculation, yet you prop up a conference that doesn't have all of its members play one another (and historically has not). You can't have it both ways.
