Next Wed is the Nat'l Signing Day. Most teams locked up the majority of their players in Dec when they could sign early. But still are some top players out there and many of them will announce on signing day.

I see that in the 247sports composite that Ohio State is #1.

    1. Ohio State
    2. Georgia
    3. Texas
    4. Penn State
    5. Miami
    6. Alabama
    7. OU
    8. Clemson
    9. Notre Dame
    10. Auburn.

All of them except Alabama (18) and Clemson (15) have 20+ kids

I would imagine that Alabama is expecting to add to that number quite a bit on signing day so I won't be surprised if they end up somewhere in the top 5
which will be their lowest finish in quite awhile.

Since it's mostly a numbers game with teams who have the most players signed having an edge in getting ranked, and of course that edge is multiplied by having a lot of 5* and 4* players.

Irish have a few more that they hope to add, whether that will be enough to keep them in the top 10 I don't know. As USC is lurking there with only 14 kids, I could see them finishing strong and jumping up into the top 10. pushing out Auburn and/or Notre Dame.

Longhorns still have some players who could fall their way and solidify a top 5 class, if they don't get them then Alabama could jump them.

Tenn is an interesting case, at one point Butch Jones before things went South had a top 10 class, then it went south and they fell off the map but the new guy, Jeremy Pruitt, has them moving back up and they are at 19 in the composite.

Neb Coach Scott Frost has the Huskers sitting inside the top 25 at #23. Don't know of course if they will be able to add to that on signing day or not.

FSU and Texas A&M both have been hurt though by coaching changes. Both are usually ranked pretty high, but right now A&M is down at 35 and FSU while at 17 only has 14 kids. Dan Mullen has the Gators one spot above FSU.

I think Saban said that Alabama will only sign 23 this class. We probably need a qb. We don't have one in this class.

With Urban Meyer you are given to be either 1, 2 or 3.

I would imagine that if Alabama takes 23 players and they will all be either 5 star or 4 star players..that they will hop up somewhere in the top 5. I doubt if they can overtake Georgia or Ohio State though.

For sure the early signing period was bad for the Aggies... that and Sumlin being listed as the walking dead pretty much for the whole season made this class a difficult proposition.
However... Jimbo is working some quiet deals that could boost us back into the top 20.
    Won't know until NSD.

The 2019 class is looking VERY good already, and that's the one that will tell the tale...

NU went from 90 something to 23. That's not the wind whistling boys.

Looking for the Gators to finish strong and either be in the top 10 or very close.

In Dan Mullen I think we have the best coach we have had since Meyer.

Florida has a good chance with a kid who is #7 on the player list and still undecided... Petit-Frere.

Mullen also added some good talent in transfer WRs Van Jefferson from Ole Miss and Trevon Grimes from Ohio State.

UF is also close to getting a few more 4 star talents so I look for a top 10 ranking plus those transfers.

Nicholas Petit-Frere signs with the Buckeyes! A five-star commit will greatly enhance our offensive line, where were in dire need of some help for the upcoming class. GO Bucks!

    A lot of people wanted Petite-Frere , Don...congrats.

Irish got an OL from So.Cal away from Chip Kelly and UCLA, but no doubt we wanted Petite-Frere badly.

Texas also finishing strong and will have a top rated class, maybe as high as #3.

I see that Georgia got it's 7th 5 star player! Yikes

I see that Alabama is up to #4 in the 247 composite, Irish hanging in there at #9.

Only real surprise is Michigan down at #19. It's going to be hard to get past Ohio State when they keep ringing up top 5 classes.

Looks like news of.the Aggies' demise was a bit premature.
Not sure where we will end up but it will be a smidge better than the middle 30's we were listed at last week.
Even with the disadvantage of the early signing period Jimbo has assembled an impressive class.
    Look out 2019!

Too late Scott, Herman owns the state! :)

Actually transition classes even before the ESD were always tough.

More good news for Ohio State as four-star defensive end Javontae Jean-Baptiste, a New Jersey product has signed his letter of intent.

<r>Irish NSD not had recent history of luck but 2018 looks to be a pleasant surprise.<br/>

Anyone watching the fiasco on ESPN with the WR who announced for Florida and his parents walked out? (looked like thay wanted him to go to bama). When are we ever going to stop this dog and pony show crap of signing announcements. ESPN needs to take a serious look at itself. <E></E></r>

I've had ESPN on all day at work. ESPN lives for the hype moments like today and they clearly do not like the early signing period. It takes away from the huff and puff. Of course, the Irish receive almost zero coverage on ESPN although they talk about everyone above and below them. If NBC had their own signing day show, I'd watch it.

Should be a good battle between Jimbo and Herman. Herman is relentless on the recruiting trail just like his mentor Urban Meyer. Next year will be a big year for him, if he has a good year he could get us back to where Mack had us in his prime.

Looks like most of the Skyboxers did pretty well, transition classes at Neb, Texas A&M, Florida land Tenn all were pretty good.

Ohio State, Alabama, Texas and Notre Dame had top 10 classes in the 247 composite rankings.
