From TSN: http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?t=107883 I agree 110% with his thoughts on Fulmer at Tenn. The Cal game is huge, HUGE by early season non-conference standards. 10 years ago when scheduled it probably seemed like another ho-hum opener but now it's one of... if not THE biggest openers in Fulmer's tenure. A loss to Cal and the locals will be howling. A win and all is right in Volville.
8) That Cal-Tennessee game really has my attention too. It is as huge as an early non-con can get. The winner will be positioned to do great things, while the loser might not recover the rest of the year. For Fulmer, its a must not lose kind of game. He might not keep his job if he loses to Cal, then fails to win the SEC...IMHO. BTW- for those who think the Pac10 doesn't play tough football, there's some real interesting non-cons this year to test that theory: Cal@Tennessee Minnesota@Cal Oklahoma@Oregon Oregon@Fresno State Arizona@LSU Brigham Young@Arizona UCLA@Notre Dame Stanford@Notre Dame Notre Dame@USC USC@Arkansas Nebraska@USC Arizona State@Colorado Oregon State@Boise State Washington State@Auburn Baylor@Washington State Washington@Oklahoma The Pac10 is crazy. They will play anybody, anytime,anywhere...
I long for the old days in the Pac10 when I could watch a 47-46 game, where the team that had the ball last usually won, on late night Fox! Arena Football just doesn't cut it for me. Terry
8) re: old days of the Pac10 You mean like last year? How about these? Notre Dame 38 Stanford 31 USC 34 ND 31 Not exactly defensive struggles...eh? PAC10 teams all have tons of offense. That's what makes them a good measuring tool in non-con games. If Tennessee can hold down that Cal offense and beat them, it will be a good indicator that they've returned from the dead. LSU is supposed to have the best Dbacks in the nation. Well, let's see if they can stop Willie Tuitama and Arizona. Auburn wants to be a BCS team? Let's see how they do against Wazzoo, which is near the bottom of the Pac10... I expect all of these to be high scoring games...
What a lineup of games to watch on Sept. 2nd. http://www.collegefootballnews.com/2006/Features/TV.htm Unfortunately for me I'll be in Stratford, Ontario Canada on a yearly trip that my family takes with another family to watch plays/musicals, and hang out for a day or two in a laid back part of the world. If it wasn't so relaxing I'd be more p'od about it. No NCAA football coverage in this part of Canada but they do have lawn bowling courts.....nice.
Well my vols will be victorious!! And I'd have to disagree tailback, Fulmer has been a great coach and will continue to be one. We all have our bad seasons ya know. S#!T happens.
re: Arizona I'm still leary of saying anything optimistic about Arizona after the rearendo Lackovic did to the program, but the Wildcats are supposed to have a pretty good secondary themselves this year. In fact, the defense looks solid. I'm still worried about the offense and hope that they can cut down on the procedure penalties, that the O-line will finally have some depth, and that Mike Canales can open things up more for Tuitama. I don't expect a win in Baton Rouge, but I'd sure like to see it.
