Well Bru McCoy 5* wr from Mater Dei who signed with USC even enrolled for a couple of days before Kingsbury bolted for the NFL, then quickly transfered to Texas and went through Spring Practice but now he is home sick for So California and is thinking of transferring back to USC. How is that for wishy washy? .
The transfer portal is stupid. What's to prevent this kid from going back home now? Either way, I have a hard time with rankings while the decks are still being shuffled.
We open Aug 24 with Miami in Orlando. By my count this morning that is 88 days so I give you an A for analysis.
The Count down begins! That shows you how popular college football is that it's still May and we're already counting down to the 1st game.
BTW with a reported 5M Ohioans out of power I'm glad to see that Don is not one of them and apparently has power and internet since he posted this morning.
The damage was primarily in the Dayton area Terry, we are fine here just a couple inches of rain and high winds.
ESPN has an interesting article on all sorts of things surrounding the schedules this fall. They declare Auburn has having the toughest schedule, playing 6 games against their preseason top 12 with 4 of them on the road. They declare VaTech as having the easiest schedule with only Notre Dame being a member of the their top 25. Big 10 has the most teams who do not play a Power 5 opponent or Notre Dame outside of the conference. Ohio State, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Minnesota. More categories at the link, some pretty interesting and I'd have never thought of myself. College football schedule superlatives for the 2019 season
I have never been entirely satisfied with these preseason schedules. Games are scheduled so far in advance, one never knows what you will be looking when the games are actually played. Just my two cents!
Schedules...nobody will give Auburn extra credit for a very tough schedule and in the end if a team that has a somewhat weak non-conf schedule runs the table it all goes away and they are in the CFP. As a fan though it's not like I want every team on the schedule to be a top 10 team or a bitter rival, but having too many teams that we don't have to even show up to beat isn't much fun either. I'm all for a patsy to open the season, sort of like an exhibition game that counts, but I'd like the entire schedule to be made up of teams from the Power 5 and Group of 5 conferences. Nothing below that. You can find plenty of marks in the Group of 5, the Irish are bringing in Bob Davies New Mexico team, they aren't very good, but they also aren't Coastal Carolina or the Citadel.
I think Bob Davie's proven inability to win in South Bend may have had something to do with scheduling this game.
Pardon my slowness in getting back to a topic I started. I like it that the Gators are being thought of again. But I will be really surprised if we can beat Georgia this year. Georgia seems to get more five stars than almost anyone else. But I do like our coach and his ability to coach players up, especially at QB. So I don't concede anything. I know this is very early, but hey it's a long wait to our favorite sport.
I will be setting up the Yahoo College Football Pick'em contest within the next few weeks, so stay tuned.
