Ok, so I'm getting tired of ND and TBD (Tampa Bay Dave) pre-season CFB talk, so...... (1) What is the given first name of Pepper Martin (2) Who holds the MLB record for most assists in a single season by a second baseman? (3) Who owns the longest hitting streak in Cards history? DID YOU KNOW.... On June 6th, 1948, Erv Dusak, Red Schoendienst, Enos Slaughter and Nippy Jones all hit home runs in the same inning (4th)....the first and only time in Cards history to date. Stan "Da Man" Musial finished the 1948 season with a .376 BA......with at least 100 games played, that Cards record still stands.
I thought I knew Pepper's first name so I looked it up to check and I was wrong. I'll leave it for someone else. I'll guess Stan the man as the longest hitting streak. He was some ball player.
Cards????? Who was the pitcher who gave up the walk off HR to Jeff Kent in the 5th game of the NCLS series!!!
I'll guess that Red Shoendeist (sp?) holds the MLB record for most assists by a 2b. Stan the Man is the obvious guess for the longest hitting streak, so it probably is not Musial. I don't have a guess after him. I have no idea what Pepper's real first name is. Martin?
I would go with Musial on the hitting streak. I am going to guess Julian Javier for the assist record. No idea about Pepper's first name..... I'll guess Elwood. Here's another stat: June 26, 2010. Cincinnati Reds leads the NL Central 8)
(1) Johnny "Pepper" Martin (2) Frankie Frisch (3) Rogers Hornsby (33 games) Stan the man had 30. Thanks for playing.....tune in next week for 1971 Nebraska Cornhusker trivia.
