Am I correct that this is likely to be an Illinois vs UF game? Zook vs Meyer? I would have won the NC in 2005 vs I did win the NC in 2006?

Are you looking forward to it? If it hapens it'll be a big game. I wonder if Illinois fans travel well, it's been awhile for them. But it is Fla in the middle of the Illinois winter.

Aren't Illinois and UF colors essentially the same?

The answer to most of your questions is yes Terry.

However, I don't think many Florida fans including me want any part of this.

    Everything to lose....nothing to gain.

The only good thing is Zook isn't a great bowl coach and Meyer is.

Then again...do we want to catch Michigan in a win one for the Carr scenario?

    win one for carr

<r>may not hold much water. I have a feeling that there is something about these senior's at Michigan. They are special, and not the good kind either. Maybe that's just my outside perspective though.<br/>

Oskee-Wow wow shouldn't present much of a task to hear most Gators tell it. Zook sucks. Illinois is still rebuilding. The Big1(1)O is horrible... What more could they ask for?<br/>

War Chant? You've got to be kidding me, Jane Fonda was more impressive doing the War Chant than that bunch, and besides isn't it offensive to the Ilini Indian tribe? Of course there aren't any Illini around so it was no doubt offensive to Northeastern Liberals who have never seen an Indian.

I don't know if Florida makes the Capital One Bowl. They would definitely be in the mix but it all depends on how things play out with the three teams in front of them in the SEC. I think it would be more likely to see Illinois vs Florida in the Outback Bowl. In this crazy season, there is a ton more football to be played. I love college football and, dare I say it, not having a full blown playoff.

That makes two of us. I've gone back and forth on this and have landed on the side of no "full blown" playoff. I thought I was the only one on this board who felt that way.

Well I'd say that the UF/Illini game is not going to happen now that the BCS at large pool has been expanded to 18 teams. This will likely result in Illinois getting a BCS bid along with another ACC team (the loser of the ACC championship game?).

As the second choice in the Big Ten the Illini very well could move up....and so could Florida with the right combo of Tenn losing to Ky and Ga losing to LSU.

Florida is 12th in the BCS ratings as of now and could wind up in the BCS top 10 which almost assuredly would land UF in the BCS.

I think the Gators are at least CapOne if they beat FSU.

I wonder where that puts Illinois? There is an outside chance that the Rose Bowl could choose them if Ohio State goes to the BCS Championship game. But the Rose Bowl could also choose Georgia and that'd be a much better game for TV if USC is also in the Rose Bowl.

Although I'm a Big 10 fan I agree that Georgia vs. USC would be a better game.

Since Wisc is in the Outback who would be in the Cap One if Ohio State goes to the NC game?

It all hinges on Missouri-OK of course but there is a good possibility Ok wins that game leaving the NC game as OSU-WVa.

I think Ill. is the logical choice for the Rose but at #4 Ga would be hard to pass up if the Rose gets any priority in the picking order over the Orange Bowl. The OB would take Ga if given the chance and in fact if the Rose takes Ill. the Orange is where the Dawgs wind up.

If that happens does Mich jump up all the way to the Cap One?

So ... to those in the know ..... what could the possible Big-10 to bowl game scenarios be?

    Assume OSU to BCS+1 then
    Mich to Rose
    Illinois to Cap One
    Wisc to Outback

If OSU goes to the Rose the
    Mich to Cap One
    Illinois to ???
    Wisc to Outback

What about PSU .... wher are they likely headed?

    Big Ten Conf All
    Ohio State (3) 7-1 11-1
    Illinois (15) 6-2 9-3
    Michigan 6-2 8-4
    Wisconsin (19) 5-3 9-3
    Penn State 4-4 8-4
    Iowa 4-4 6-6
    Michigan State 3-5 7-5
    Purdue 3-5 7-5
    Indiana 3-5 7-5
    Northwestern 3-5 6-6
    Minnesota 0-8 1-11

I'm another one Sid. As a matter of fact I don't want any kind of playoff. IMHO every week is a playoff game with the current system.

WRT a playoff ...... consider these teams and their possible records on Sat evening:

    OSU 11-1 B10 champ #46 sos
WVA 11-1 BE champ #48 sos
    Missouri 12-1 B12 champ #21 sos
    or
    Oklahoma 11-2 B12 champ #62 sos
VaTech 11-2 ACC champ #12 sos
    or
BC 11-2 ACC champ #32 sos
LSU 11-2 SEC champ #35 sos
    USC 10-2 Pac10 champ #79 sos
    or
    ASU 10-2 Pac 10 champ #59 sos

Which are more deserving of a spot in the BCS+1? Is an 11-1 conf champ more deserving than an 11-2 conf champ, if the 11-2 champ has a tougher schedule?

BTW - forget Hawaii with a #117 schedule.

    Timely info there Gaterz.

Don't be surprised when people who don't like where their teams fall shoot holes in a schedule ranking such as this.

Thanks.....basically opponent winning percentage. Note that Washington moves up from 13th place to 4th by playing undefeated Hawaii.....yet Hawaii is dismissed from most discussions of the worthy because of their schedule strength.... Makes sense to me.....

    Playoff please.....
