I saw a list of potential coaches and it included Dennis Erickson on it. That guy would be a perfect fit for MSU, he would empty all the jails in Michigan just like he did in Oregon State and since they don't have high character requirements or high academic requirements. They'd do extremely well with him. Other guy is Steve Mariucci, who a lot of ND guys wanted badly to be the ND coach when Davie was canned, but who I think is a very average coach. I saw where the guy at Tulsa, Kragthrope, said he wasn't interested in talking to people about other jobs he was happy at Tulsa. He's done a great job there no doubt, but I believe him as much as I did Urban Meyer when he said he wasn't interested in leaving Utah.
He's officially out.....after this season. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061101/ap_on_sp_co_ne/fbc_michigan_st_smith_4
I hope that they give some consideration to Brian Kelly who's been doing good things at Central Michigan. Taking someone in a smaller school who knows your recruiting area can really help. Just ask OSU.
MSU <r>Personally I think MSU should drop their DIV 1 football program completely. It would be best for all concerned and would be good for NCAA football in general. <E></E></r>
 Sigh...there goes all of my best material for next year's Michigan State game. Now I have to start all over...
MSU <r>maybe Bob Daive is ready to come back to coaching now. He'd be a great fit at MSU huh? <E></E></r>
well tim <r>at least Davie wouldn't have to worry about beating Michigan State if that was the case <E></E></r>
