I was expecting a real slaughter yesterday in our game with the Wildcats. What did this team do but really played like a very talented group on the road and upset Kentucky 64-57.

We have lost 50% of our games up to yesterday, maybe this is the turning point in this young season? This victory was a great one for the record books!
    GO BUCKS!

Had to be a pleasant surprise for the Buckeyes after a slow start to the season.

What do you guys expect for this years team?

Cogratulations to the Buckeyes. I'm always glad to see Kentucky lose.

To digress, ND showed itself yesterday to be an average team which is incapable of finishing. On the other hand, IU showed solid character in coming back from a 16 point deficit to win the game. Actually, the best team on the floor in Indy yesterday was Butler, who upset a very good Purdue team.

There have been lots of early season upsets of highly ranked teams (yesterday Duke and Kentucky). This college basketball season should be fun. The Big 10 conference should be very competitive with Michigan State, Ohio State, IU, and Purdue battling it out.

    Terry,

I would be pleased if we can finish in the middle of the pack. Hopefully come March, we can be a thorn in the side of someone! (grin)

Don how does the B10 do the schedule for basketball? I'm assuming that you do not play everybody in the conference on a round robin basis, too many teams to do that.

    Terry,

I do not know exactly how the schedule works, but we play each team once and several others just once. Looks like 18 conference games this season.

    Don,

I don't know exactly how they structure the schedule, but I know that they try to keep historic rivalries intact for two home-and-home games, like IU-Purdue and others. I'm also pretty sure (but not 100% certain) that each year certain teams will drop off a given team's schedule on a rotating basis from year to year.

    Sid,

I don't think they're as worried about traditional rivalries in bball as they were in setting up the football schedule after the expansion.

Purdue only plays IU once this year...in Bloomington.

Thanks, Stu. I was under the wrong impression because I think IU and Purdue played twice the past two seasons. It looks like both teams are going to be competitive in the Big 10. I believe Purdue's loss to Butler was not a fluke. Butler is that good. It's hard to believe when you look at their lineup vs. Purdue's or any other major conference team, but Butler often has been a David when they play the Goliaths. Purdue is for real.

No big deal to lose to Butler, a very good team...but I watched that game and we really played poorly.

Butler out-hustled us (as they always do) and we just couldn't seem to wake up.

Tried to snooze through the first half of Vanderbilt and then played a pretty good second half. Hammons was a monster.

Finished non-conference 12-1 and played (I think) three ranked teams. We're not as good as we looked in the first 11 games and not as bad as we looked vs. Butler.
