Looks like the Buckeyes may have a great team this year. Last night they held Miami (Fl) ranked #2, to one hit and swamped the Canes 7-1 on their home field.

We are now 18-3 and begin Big Ten play this weekend at Penn State.

We need some northern teams to start doing well consistently. The Irish have had some good teams and even made a CWS in the recent past but have slumped under the new coach. Neb has had some very good teams but recently seems like they've slumped as well. Mich at one time had a very good program as well but they've fallen off.

The NCAA has tried to level the playing field with the uniform start date, the southern teams used to have 10 games under their belt before the Northern teams even got started, plus the Southern teams can play a lot of non-con games at home while Northern teams have to go on the road for almost all of their early season games, Irish have been almost exclusively in Fla and Texas for their 1st 15 games.

If we can get some consistently good Northern teams then we'll get more of the 1st round up north and not have to travel to the South. That would be helpful

But mainly it's all about the commitment that Northern teams are willing to make to facilities, coaches, scouting, etc.

    I agree Terry,

Unfortunately baseball is not one of the top sports in the Midwest and does not create much revenue.
