Check out this story of two guys golfing together in an outing in Kansas scoring back to back hole in ones on the same hole. Par 3 212yards. The first guy does it with a 6I which set my BS alarm off immediately. That's a hell of a poke with a 6I. I don't think I could do that with a stiff tailwind and a downhill target. The other guy used a hybrid. By their own admission they are average golfers. Maybe I'm overly suspicious......... http://www.kansas.com/2011/06/24/1906241/its-hole-in-one-after-another.html
So my first question is Does that mean that they only have to split one round of drinks for the house or does everyone get two freebies?
After reading that I believe it, they were in a foursome and the kid who used the 6 iron looks like he could hit it that far. I hit a 6 iron 160 at 65, young buck in good shape with a good swing could hit a 6 iron 200+, but he would have to be a good player.
The other guy who looks older, not old but older, used a 23 degree hybrid. I have a 21 degree and I count on that as my 190+ and again he looks young enough that if has a good swing 200+ from a 23 degree hybrid isn't outlandish. I wonder how far AJ can hit his 6 iron, bet he can hit it 190+....deep into the woods on the left though!
hmmmm found Rory McIlroy's club/yardages.....maybe I'm being too generous. Rory hits a 6 iron 185 and a 24 degree 4 iron 210.
Hit a 6 iron in for a hole-in-one on a 167 yard hole...... and luckily I was playing with a co-worker who was able to tell the story around the office......making the feat much sweeter than if I had to spread the news myself.
I've got a witness that says he's never seen one thrown farther than I did at Camp Pendleton one year. It had to have been 95 plus yards.
