Looks like BP is experiencing yet another round of bad PR just because they are alleged to have put profits over the tragic loss of innocent lives:

Geez...how could anyone question their motives when all they are after is just a little profit.

BP drills for Oil, that's their business. What does drilling for oil off the coast of Libya have to with them being only interested in profits. Are you suggesting that any Corporation doing business with Libya, in Libya or off the coast of Libya is only interested in profits at the expense of innocent lives?

I have no love for Libya or Col. Khadaffi, but at some point business is just business. Heck I think our current embargo with Cuba is way way way past due in being lifted.

The essence of the article as I read it Terry is that BP is implicated in a scheme of lobbying for a release of the Lockerbie terrorists in exchange for preferred drilling rights.

    So here's what happened.
BP wants to drill off of Lybia.
Lybia says to BP, look we've been trying to negotiate the release of the bomber for some time. Perhaps if you would put in a word with the British Government, we'd reciprocate by expediting your request.
At that point BP had 2 choices:
    1. Refuse to get involved to appease some Gator fan in Florida or
    2. Like most global companies, play the Geopolitical game.

How could they choose no. 2????

BTW the real heavy in this whole incident is the Scottish government that released that bastard. He had killed 11 Scottish citizens who happened to be under the plane when it crashed. Perhaps the Scotts thought that they could save some money by letting him go.

There were Syracuse University female students on that plane.

I highly doubt their fathers would agree that BP should be angling for the release of the SOB that killed their daughters.

Just a sample......but I remember Syracuse played LSU in the Outback Bowl that year and the players wore black armbands in memoriam for all of their fellow students murdered by this scum who now is living as a hero in Libya.
