These things will change like the wind but I find it intriguing to think of a Ron Zook-Steve Spurrier Cap One Bowl. By the way.....Steve would eat him for lunch... http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/bowls/predictions
Granted some very interesting projections, but give it three weeks and things may look entirely different. Don
i hope <t>the Irish pull off a massive win streak to sneak in at the wire. This young team needs the extra month of practice. It would have to pull off a few massive upsets in order to do that..<br/> <br/> Its, perhaps, one of the more unlikely runs in the history of sports. Still, I'd like to see it.</t>
One thing is for sure...if Zook ever wins the NC you guys will be right there to say that Steve or Urban coulda done better with that team.
If Zook ever won the NC at Illinois he would be hailed as one of the best ever coaches in football......and I don't see that happening. And it would rank right up there with ND making a bowl this year....
8) re: "And it would rank right up there with ND making a bowl this year...." BTW- What happened to the Gator "dynasty" that was predicted? I thought they didn't recruit anymore...they just "reload?" I waited and waited for the predicted 55 points to show up against Auburn, but somehow they fell a tad short. In fact,...help me out here...I'm trying to remember the last time that they won a game. Have they won any in October? Do dynasties have losing streaks? Maybe not huh? I guess some dynasties last longer than others...
MCG, Also after the Gators received rather favorable treatment from the refs the last couple of weeks, the silence (about everyone hating UF) has been deafening.????
 ... probably because there were no "deep south dixie" officials from alabama on those crews!! WRT the balance of ND's season ... I really hope they lose to BC then win out and somehow get the Pac-10 draw to the Emerald Bowl against da U. It would give Irish fans on the west coast a chance to see their team and would be the left coasters a chance to crown the 2007 Champ of California with wins over UCLA, USC, and Stanford (oops, no Cal, oh well).
"MCG has been OK lately, why ya gotta go and dump gas on a fire" Good point Scott. I wasn't throwing a dagger at Corey or ND....just emphatically stating what appears to be the obvious to most sports observers. Hey....what a season comeback story that would be for Notre Dame and I would be the first to acknowledge it. It would have to start today IMHO against BC. On Florida.....how about reviewing my last 50 posts on my opinion of what UF may be able to accomplish this year before making those kinds of statements. As I have ALWAYS been wrt to Florida I have remained objective all season long and have NOT offered up inflated projections of Gator greatness this year. In fact I have all season pretty much conceded the loss to LSU and it was actually more competitive than I would have thought in a surprising way. But hey.....the truth is not as much fun eh Jo'Co?
Hey MCG, how's the leg doin'? I'm getting ready to run down to CK to do a few chores. High tide is a little after 4PM so I'll through a few gold spoons in hopes on enticing a hit from a red. Weather is very nice today .... wish you were here to enjoy.
A JAN 1ST BOWL GAME? I DON'T THINK SO. This years team is an absolute embarrassment to the state and HISTORY of NU FB. Maybe the Chex Mix Bowl on Dec 10th, but not a Jan 1st Bowl. No Way. This team needs to be absolutely ashamed of the way they have played, Cosgrove needs to get it or go, and Callahan needs to be held ACCOUNTABLE. I wonder if he has the work ethic that Dr. Tom did. Doubt it.
The leg is still in cast and at night it mostly is hugely troublesome at best. 10 more days before the cast comes off if I make it that long. Wished I was there next to you in that boat throwin some plugs or spoons for those reds. That would be cool......and then of course a rum runner or two on the waterfront afterward.
what is he, the kid in the hockey helmet? <t>Come on Scott. MCG had that coming, and much worse, for almost a year now.<br/> <br/> As a matter of fact, re-read that. This is a thread about bowls and bowl hopes. All I did was wish for the impropable. We have an incredibly young team that is lacking in number (see numbers in my other post). I made no boasts of greatness or even deserving to go. All I said was that would be invaluable for such a young team. I admitted myself that ND winning out and going to a bowl game would be more than a stretch of reality.<br/> <br/> So for that he get to take a shot at the Irish? What new information was he shedding on the situation? He was just being sh*tty.<br/> <br/> He pats himself on the back by saying its something anyone else would notice....like we don't see it?<br/> <br/> Re-read my post again.<br/> <br/> He had earned a pouncing with Florida losing back to back, but with the passing of AJ...it just seemed wrong.. Well if he can be a d*ck, why can't others? I was going to ignore his snarky post but if JOCO chose to take exception, why not? He certainly is the one who brought it on himself.<br/> <br/> First, he escaped touch due to the leg thing.... Next, with the passing of AJNJ it just didn't seem right, but now he can be a douchebag and folks are not surprised when someone takes him to task?<br/> <br/> Should we just declare him the bubble boy and be done with it?<br/> <br/> Trust me, people have been enduring FAR WORSE things on this board recently but they still show up to take their dose because their team sucked that week.<br/> <br/> I guess that doesn't apply to bubble boy.</t>
here <r>just wear this before making your next post<br/> <br/> <br/> <IMG src="http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u20/rayboi2099ae/bubble.jpg"><s></e></IMG></r>
Bubble boy wants the truth? That's a laugh. He has so little credibility that I don't even believe that he hurt his leg. Its too convenient. Guys like that fake everything... When will we hear the truth about Florida? Urban Meyers found that school had almost no traditions. So he tried installing as many Notre Dame traditions as he could; one of which was having the team sing the alma mater after the games. That lasted until the first loss against Auburn. The players just turned tail and sprinted for the lockerroom. BTW- that's exactly what USC did after they lost to Stanford. Rather than shake hands, they just sprinted for the tunnel. I guess Florida really is becoming "just like USC." ...........JO'Co
I must be (am) an idiot. I wuz laughing at Dave's comment because he threw back a joke at me after I teased him about Fla's attitude to the Zookster...I never really read it as a shot. Sorry.
 I've never heard Dave say anything funny. How can I tell when he's joking? All of his posts seem like jokes...
