These things 7 weeks into the season these days are mere folly for the most part but in years past...unfortunately......some bowl arrangements were already getting done by now: http://cfn.scout.com/2/557866.html Note: it's particularly intriguing for you Irish fans
I'm still not convinced that we will go undefeated, I think we could still lose a game to somebody we shouldn't lose and lose to both OU and USC on the road. I just think our offense right now can't support a undefeated season, now maybe this week will look again like we did against Miami, but both OU and USC have equal talent and both have excellent QB's and as well as our young DB's have played this year they haven't faced the combination of QB/WR that OU and USC present. I think Kansas State could very well win out, I think Oregon can win out, and I think it's possible that Alabama could lose to somebody.
I'm with you Terry. Not sure why this guy sees ND winning at both USC and OU. I tell you this.....if the Irish win out they do deserve to play the SEC Champion for the title no question about it.
I love how this season is going for my guys, but I doubt we get to the Cotton bowl. And... to be honest I want something DIFFERENT! Taken one at a time I think ND certainly can win any game on the sched, but we all know how tough it is to go undefeated. OU is playing real well right now. If you get by that one... all bets are off! I think they are a tougher matchup for you than USC.
I'm game Tom, let's plan on meeting in Nashville so I can see that fine ride you keep making me drool over. And we can buy each other the beer needed to accept the miscues our young players perform during the game...
That article reminds me of what I do before some vacations. I look at the 10 day forcast as soon as it reaches my first day. It's wrong about 98% of the time. (the only time it's right is when I'm going to Phoenix where it's almost always sunny.)
8) This is like playing Old Maid. How come WE have to play Alabama? Most years you guys would be crying if we got the chance. This year, everybody is more than happy to dump that game on the Irish...
The Music City Bowl is something I've always meant to attend but never can for various reasons. It just sounds like a great time and there's far worse places to spend NYE than Nashville. Quality eats, suds and surroundings to be sure. I'm kinda with JOCO on this one. I find it kinda funny that, for once, people don't seem to object to the notion that we may play for the whole thing because few people seem to want a part of Alabama. In a way, that makes sense.. In the unlikely event that we run the gauntlet, I'd gladly take that challenge.. Not because of any perceived bravado or chest thumping, but honestly, I like the matchup. I don't believe there to be a better defensive HC in college football than Nick Saban. Playing us can be problematic because you don't actually know what our offense is going to do. Don't get me wrong, it's no grand surprise or scheme. ****, we don't know what it's going to do today either!! I'd put our defense up against their offense. That is a matchup I like.. The key to the game would be our alleged offense and their defense. Saban doesn't like surprises. Our offense is nothing but..
We always get patsies in the BCS bowls. Our last two were against OSU who was to play in the NC game the following year, and LSU who was to win the NC game the following year. Alabama seems like another matchup for the Irish. That way folks can keep harping on the fact that we haven't won a BCS game in a century.
Cheer up you ND guys about maybe having to play Bama. If Florida does everything just right the Gators will have the opportunity to have a Roll Tide Roll beating administered to them in Atlanta a full month before you get yours..... 8)
This kind of talk (ND vs. AL possibility) makes me very nervous. I tend to be superstitious when my team is doing well. For me personally, any talk of possibilities beyond the next game is completely taboo. I've been like this for many years, going back to when my son played LL baseball. Call me crazy, but this season has given rise to certain habitual conduct and dress habits surrounding game day. All I can say is, I hope it keeps working.
Remember, Sid was a baseball player. Voodoo rituals and getting dressed left-to-right are just a small part of controlling the natural world through magic...
Should we say, one 12 oz per miscue? I'd be plastered by the end of the 1st qtr and not have to watch the rest!
Jim, you've been there, done that, so you understand. It may seem silly to an onlooker, but we know that there are times when it is necessary. The success of ND football so far this season makes it necessary.
Agreed. I've often wondered why no one has ever done a study of former baseball players. It's a sub-culture worth studying. Someday some bright boy or girl is going to get their doctoral writing something like, "The Effects of Baseball Voodoo Rituals on Unrelated Athletic Phenomena."
