No excuses for this taking so long. It's abhorrent.... http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/03/02/army.secretary/index.html
Doubt if it was his fault, but sort of like in baseball when the team isn't producing you fire the manager. When they find stuff like this you have to fire somebody high up in the chain.
:?: Agree on the abhorrent part but wasn't this acted on fairly quickly (not by Weightman, who apparently knew about the issues five months ago, but by his superiors and the administration, who canned him and also Harvey.) We owe these guys and there is no excuse for this.
Stu, I can't believe complaints were not filtering out long before now about this and were being ignored. I can't believe no one is monitoring how these heroes are being treated upon their return. These people have sacrificed more than most of us could ever even think about and they should be treated like heroes and with the best care and concern and someone should be making sure of it.....110% of the time.
"Former Army secretary Thomas E. White, who was fired by Rumsfeld in April 2003, said that the country being at war creates unique challenges for the service secretaries, especially the secretary of the Army. "The treatment of casualties is an extremely emotional issue, and there is a tremendous sense that these people should be well treated for the service they've rendered their country," White said. "And when they're not, that's an unacceptable situation." You have to wonder why W let Rummy go for so long with no accountability. The Commander-in-Chief is W......and it is his army.
