    15 Million. I guess that is mainly tribute. He only needs 22 hr's to break Hank Aarons all time record. I'll be sad to see him break it, Hammerin Hank was a class act and a true sportsman. Barry Bonds is a jerk.

    I wonder if he's healthy enough to play every day.

    They deserve him. I was hoping the Giants would let him go someplace else. Maybe to the American League. I can't wait until this stuffed shirt is done with the game.

    The AMEN corner is in total agreement.

    Hank Aaron defines the term Sportsmanship. Many people have complained about his "racist views" that were made public after his retirement. Those people must not know the full story. They need to read this article.

    Taken from that article:

    A signing like that guarantees the Giants that they will remain a second rate ball club. Fools and their money.... you know what happens.

    Hank Aaron:

    I took my sons to see him at a memoribilia show when they were about 12 and 10 years old. He was an absolute jerk when they got their turn for an autograph. When they said Hi he wouldn't look up and when they said Thank You he would not acknowledge them either. Not only that but, while we were in line near the front and in complete earshot he started arguing with the promoter about his fee which he demanded at that moment and only in cash. And he was cursing when he argued in front of all the kids there. JERK!

    Terry,

    Hank was extremely bitter after the racism that was shown to him during his career. I could see him acting this way. I don't like it, but I can usnderstand it.

    Tom...

    <t>And Terry thanks for the board help earlier today.<br/>

    Actually I've heard this about Hank numerous times and from a current Braves scout that covers the Houston are that I know pretty well. <br/>
    <br/>
    As far as respect there is no discussion from me on that one regarding Hank over Bonds.<br/>

    By the way can you believe the Giants bent over for 15 million for this guy this year? Goes along with the insanity shown by many clubs this off season. The World Champs did not get involved in this but are taking the NE Patriots direction in running their baseball team.</t>

    Apparently Bonds' contract was not accepted by MLBB's home office. It had a clause that allowed the Giants out if Bonds is indicted in the BALCO scandal. The collective bargaining agreement doesn't allow for that. Nice to see that the union is protecting baseball's finest.

    It always amazes me how much power the MLB Union has, I was shocked that they could prevent a player (ARod) from giving up salary in a contract when he wanted to do it, and now this. Too much power.

    Its really sick isn't it? Why sign him for 15 million. Were other teams banging down his door to sign him? Well they'll draw great crowds until he breaks the record. Of course they'll be out of the race by then.
