I watched the video, while it's not like he choked the guy...he did give him sort of a slap like...look at me son while I'm talking to you.... But given his history it's bound to blow up into more than it is. I wonder if really and truly he is still a great coach? It's not like he has done something amazing at Texas Tech. Terry
Agreed, Terry. Take the name Bob Knight out of the sentence, and it's a non-issue. Read what the player and the player's parents say about it: http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061114/SPORTS0601/61114038
It's all about nothing. It's classic ESPN hype, making a story where there is none. Reportedly even the kid and his mother have jumped to Knight's defense. I'm a huge Bobby Knight fan. Can't help it, I have a sentimental liking for successful coaches who also have principles. I didn't know T Tech had a basketball team before Knight got there.
You know what, if the kid and his parents have no problem with what happened then it's pathetic that sportswriters are trying to make an issue where none should exist.
 This is another ESPN created soap opera. Look at all the coaches out there who are just using these young men for their own purposes. Bobby Knight is a real teacher who was giving an important lesson that the kid can really use to get better and more competitive. Its old school, but its effective. Let the teachers teach and let ESPN go back to paintball poker. I support Bobby Knight. ..............JO'Co
What is happening in our country? The Bobby Knight incident has created an unprecedented wave of common sense and respect for old-school values unlike anything I've seen in the past 20 years. Everyone - I mean everyone - who matters is on Bob Knight's side. ESPN's poll last night showed 78% sided with BK and every single state in the union sided with him. The map was 100% blue in support of him. Fran Fraschilla supported him to the hilt when talking to the frustrated studio talking head. The studio commentators, Digger, Jay Bilas, and Hubert Davis, all sounded like the BK fan club in affirming his greatness as a coach and a teacher of young men in response to the frantic questions from the frustrated Reece Davis. As Fran Fraschilla said, you don't join the Marines and get excused from Quantico. None of these folks or the TT AD or the kid or his family considered the incident an issue. First Walmart puts Christmas back in Christmas. Now this. Today all is right in the world. Go Bobby go!
No excuse for going nose to nose with a youngster and then throwing an uppercut in front of his team mates, fans, TV audience...AND his parents :!:
Yeah, snapped back so far and fast I'm surprised he didn't get a neck injury. (sarcasm intended)
Bobby Knight has at least one thing in common with Notre Dame. You may love him or you may hate him, but no one is neutral.
Chalk me up as being in the HATE column..Latest temper display puts me there. Somehow Coach K , Coach Olsen, Coach Donovan and many others act like coaches and get RESULTS. What the hell is he proving by these tirades :?: :?:
What, are we raising a nation of Pussies here or what? It was an attention getter, plain and simple. Knight wants 100% attention and effort. And if he doesn't get it, that's were the discipline comes in. Knight would have been a great Drill Instructor....
