Well I can't imagine him not being in it. He is the greatest IU coach ever. ...even given how it ended. It'd be like keeping Woody Hayes out of the College Football HOF because of his latter years problems with his temper and the incident at the bowl game.
I'm sure he was contacted about being there. His issues were with Myles Brand, not the current administration.
B Knight <t>Well I still consider myself a Hoosier since I grew up there and was there when Bobby started his career at IU. I'm still a IU basketball fan although not nearly as much as 20 years ago.<br/> <br/> Anyway, to answer your question, I'm sure Coach Knight will show up for the award. His beef was with the admin at the time but I know he still loves IU and for most Indiana fans the feeling is mutual.</t>
My favorite quote from the BK era was from the 1980 team: The practices that year were so brutal, we couldn't wait for the game to be played....so we could have a break.
Whoops! Guess I was premature to assume that he had been contacted. His former players don't know whether or not he will attend the induction ceremony. Will he or won't he?
Sid, I believe in the original article, the current AD had sent him a personal handwritten note asking for him to come to the ceremony, but no reply had been received as of that date. Pernonally I have my doubts that he will make an appearance, even though Myles is gone. Too bad his career at Indiana had to end in such a distasteful manner. I think both Knight and the university have to shoulder equal blame. Don
