Had my second knee replacement this morning. Doing great. Pain much less than BEFORE the surgery. In all fairness might be due to the adductor nerve block still having effect. But I feel like I could have gone home as an outpatient. Many do but since I live an hour away I thought it best to go home in morning tomorrow.

We complain about medicine and it's costs but it's pretty amazing. My Dad had to stay in the hospital for 2 weeks when he had his done.

And yes, all you joint veterans, I shall be very faithful with the rehab. Plan on golfing before September arrives.

No doubt this will take some strokes off your handicap!! ;)

Glad to hear all is going well. Are you using the Ibuprofen/Tylenol combo for pain control. I've gone to recommending 600mg Ibuprofen + 500mg Tylenol for post root canal and routine exodontia. instead of going directly to the Vicodin.

Terry, I used to love ibuprofen especially for dental work. But I developed a true allergy to it (swollen eyes, wheezing. So now I go to Naprosyn for an NSAID. I find I don't get quite the same pain relief with it.

I'm now 16 hours post op and haven't taken anything yet. Even Tylenol. It was just so bad beforehand that a little pain doesn't seem bad now. Of course they gave me a cocktail full of stuff during surgery and they do that adductor block.

I need to knock a couple strokes off. Playing so bad it's embarrassing.

At this stage of my life, I've known lots of men and women who have had knee replacements. Stu, being a doc, you know exactly how to recuperate. Good luck following the process. I hope it goes smoothly for you and that you're on the links as soon as possible. .

My wife has had both knees replaced and able to go back to bowling in a league with me.

I know quite a few people in our Senior Games here in Franklin who have had knee repayments or hip replacements and are very active.

Don't think you will have any regrets.

Well, the nerve block wore off yesterday...and it's worse than last time. My whole upper thigh is sore probably from bruising from the nerve block. The day after the surgery I got 95 degrees flexion and right now I can't get it anywhere near that. That part should be temporary, though. It seems to be the thigh pain that is stopping it, not the knee itself.

When I saw the Physical Therapy lady for discharge evaluation she put me through my paces and kicked my ass. Headed immediately for the Percocet.

Home now doing my exercises and waiting for my first outpatient Rehab tomorrow.

Dodgers vs Astros in the WS...that'd be my dream!

    1. Los Angeles Dodgers

    Record: 51-26
    Week 11 ranking: No. 4

On top of the Dodgers' 10-game win streak, a 13-homer June from Cody Bellinger has ignited talk that he's the NL's answer to Aaron Judge while both players take their shots at Mark McGwire's rookie-record 49 homers in 1987, another year when the ball seemed lively. What makes Bellinger's season even more exciting is what we can get into even more detail -- just as Judge leads the AL, Bellinger is leading the NL in exit velocity on fly balls and line drives (98.3 mph). Lively ball or not, Bellinger is just getting started. -- Christina Kahrl, ESPN.com

    2. Houston Astros

    Record: 52-25
    Week 11 ranking: No. 1

"Falling" down to No. 2 is relative, because the Astros' 14-9 record in June despite losing three starting pitchers to the disabled list reflects their depth -- and the likelihood that they'll earn top honors again. Helping keep the Astros far out in front in the AL West is George Springer coming into his own as a star player. He has mashed nine homers so far this month while saving Houston 4 defensive runs in center field. -- Christina Kahrl, ESPN.com

BTW don't look for Dallas Keuchel till after the All-Star break. I just hope when he comes back he hasn't lost his edge and that the injury issues with his neck are completely resolved.
