I certainly hope this guy s right and Donovan stays in Gainesville for 20-30 more years. Urban Meyer also!
I can't think of a lot of college coaches who have left for the Pros when they were hot that have succeeded. That Miami coach who left for the Washington Wizzards only lasted a year or so, Tim Floyd failed, Mike Montgomery (Stanford) failed, Rick Pitino failed, Jerry Tarkanian failed, I know there are others but I can't think of them now. I can not for the life of me think of anybody other than Larry Brown who had success in the Pros after success in college. Are there any? As far as Urban Meyer goes, again there is only Jimmy Johnson who made the jump and was successfull. You might argue Barry Switzer but he was more of a figurehead than a real pro coach. Steve Spurrier, Bud Wilkinson, Lou Holtz, Chuck Fairbanks, John McKay and while the Fatman (John Robinson) did have some good teams in L.A. ultimately he failed. I think the top college coaches have it pretty good salary wise these days and don't really need the pro money.
George, I did Google Urban Meyer and just UM and I didn't find that photo. How many pages back was it? Gator Bill
FWIW, UM lives in unincorporated Alachua County, west of Gainesville. Thus, that's just a photo of UM jogging home after work, west bound on 24th Ave towards Haile Plantation.
