Are you kidding me? Check out this excerpt from another column. Somebody ought to teach this guy something about tact. He must be as popular as a staph infection the Red Sox clubhouse after these bonehead comments: "As a Red Sox fan and a huge fan of the man himself, I was very disappointed in David Ortiz’s recent rant regarding the voting for the American League MVP Award. It is bad enough to lobby for an individual award in a team sport, but it is flat out ridiculous to call out another candidate and throw your teammates under the bus. “Big Papi,” in trying to point out that Jeter plays in a great lineup, which somehow diminishes his stats in Ortiz’s mind, said “let him try hitting in this lineup.” The rest of the Red Sox lineup must have felt great, and by the way, David, you are protected by the most prolific run producer of your generation, Manny Ramirez. The end result of the whining, of course, is that he probably cost himself votes. "
I don't know if he deserves it or not, but I did notice that Jeter kept his 21 game hitting streak intact last night even though he didn't get a hit. I'll be even Jif didn't know this rule existed! I don't know if it happened with Joe D. but I kind of doubt it as I have never heard of it occuring. The bizzare thing was after about 4 innings he was 0 for 0 with 3 runs scored and one RBI. He actually scored on two of the walks and the hit by pitch.
