Hey now here's a team we might be able to beat in BB. But this does change the landscape if they accept the invitation. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/college/2010/11/29/2010-11-29_texas_christian_universitys_horned_frogs_invited_into_the_big_east_source.html?print=1&page=all
The only reason that TCU would have to join the Big East is that they have an autobid to the BCS. Other than that the Mtn West is a better conference and a better fit geographically for TCU.
I did forget one very important thing, I'm sure that the Big East TV contracts in both Football and Basketball are much better than the Mtn West TV contracts. That might be as big a factor as the Auto Bid for football. Terrible fit geographically though.
Oh yeah and ND AD should immediately start working with the TCU AD to schedule a series of home/home. We already have one with Texas but getting into the Lone Star state every year would be great for ND recruiting. Maybe the game could be played at Cowboy Stadium.
You read my mind Doc (you like comic books?) Since we'd play them in the other non football sports they'd be a natural opponent.
Sure we learn all we need to know, that there is something beyond the Texas borders but we aren't sure they have good Mexican food so why bother!!
After spending 5 days in Santa Fe, NM, I've learned a lot about Mexican food. Red, green, or Christmas?
The Big East is looking for another team. The Horns could completely change the perception of the Big East.
Big East keeps hoping that Villanova will upgrade their football from Div1AA to Div1A and become the 10th team. If they don't and I have no idea what their time line is for making that decison. Then Memphis, Tulsa, Houston, UCF, Tulane would all be possible Big East addittions.
this state of college football sucks TCU can join a WEAKER (obviously so) conference and they now get a shot at playing for an automatic BCS bid...worse.. people see this as a good thing. Amazing. I wonder if TCU will 'run a Miami' on that conference the way the Canes use to before joining the ACC?
I'd like to know that too. It's pretty good football out hear. I might be feasting on horned frog legs pretty soon.
