They are officially looking into it. Candidates are BYU Houston Col. State Boise State UConn USF UCF Cincinnati Memphis I definitely think Houston should be one of them, with either BYU or Boise State as the other. But USF and UCF both offer opening up a new area with a lot of TV sets. Houston, BYU and Boise don't bring much to the table in terms of new TV markets though. No doubt the announcement of the ACC Network was a factor. The B12 still is burdened though with the Longhorn Network, and the powers at UT don't really seem to care if it hurts the rest of the league in any attempt to form a league network. http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/17108512/big-12-begin-exploring-expansion-candidates
I don't know if they are going to add 2 or 4 teams. A lot of Texas fans do not want Houston in the league, besides not bringing in any TV sets they also would give the Cougars some legitimacy in recruiting in the Houston area. Plus there is still some old sentiment about Houston being an inferior school academically. Might have been true at one time, but Houston has been working hard in that area and made huge strides. I would not mind 1 of the Fla schools but not both of them. I'd go for UCF/USF, Cincinnati, BYU and Colorado State myself.
