Pretty impressive. Not all represented the USA. In a bit of a stretch, they included 4 medals won by Michael Phelps, former volunteer assistant coach at Michigan. I'm sure other conferences had similar results, but I wouldn't know where to find them. http://www.wthr.com/story/19273256/big-ten-athletes-claim-35-medals-at-london-olympics
ND had 11 athletes in the Olympics and took home 4 medals, 1 gold and 4 bronze. Like the B10 not all ND athletes were USA, 2 of those bronze medals were girls on the Canadian womens soccer team, the other 2 bronze were fencers and the gold of course was Shannon Boxx for womens soccer..her 3rd gold.
Dave's list is incomplete because it leaves off 5 Big10 schools who won a total of 14 medals. Nevertheless, of the schools shown on the list, the Pac 12 clearly leads all conferences with 82 medals. The SEC is a distant second with 49 medals, followed by the Big 10. Texas is the sole Big12 representative, and Connecticut is the only school listed from the Big East. The Ivy League actually had two schools listed with a total of 11 medals.
Hey maybe that's why my income is down....thank you Mrs. Jones we did 1 filling on the lower right and 4 on the upper right, take your chart up front and the receptionist will take your payment for the 4 fillings!!
Sid I'll bet historically the West Coast schools have always been the top medal winners in the Olympics.
