I've had overnight to cool off... but this still may not be safe for work. THAT MUTHERF#CKER SPAVITAL HAS TO GO!!!! Guess I didn't cool off as much as I hoped... Here we go again... Another year, another offense into the tank. A pattern is beginning to emerge. In 2014 and 2015 we see similar stuff happening. Our offense starts out diverse and throws the ball all over the yard. As the competition ramps up, the O-Coord puckers and pulls things in tighter and tighter until you get what we had last night. Against a defense that was just shredded by Memphis, we ran the "U" offense. What's that you ask? Well it's when every play you call is "executed within a U" pattern. All plays will be behind or along the line of scrimmage side to side. AND... if you do look downfield, there will be NOTHING inside the hash marks. It all has to be to the outside. It makes it real easy to defend. Miss was putting 8 guys within 4 yards of the line. And then they would drop their safeties outside as soon as the ball was snapped. Never even looked at the middle of the field. Why bother, we don't run ANYONE through there? Believe it or not... we do have a tight end who has caught a TD this year.. IN THE MIDDLE. I'm sure Spavital didn't even suit him up. What a waste. The defense was on the field for 36 minutes, but did enough while forcing FOUR turnovers. For their efforts they were treated to this offensive "efficiency": Punt Punt Punt Fumble Punt FG INT Punt Punt Punt Punt Punt Punt TO on Downs TO on Downs People who know a lot more football that I do are now grumbling, and they are looking right at Sumlin for action to correct this. The evidence is all there. He needs to hand the offense over to Dave Christensen and tell Spavital to go get a hot dog and sit up in the box. If he doesn't we might end the year 6-6.
Some of us are hoping for 6-6 again this year. This was not supposed to be THE year for the Vols but we expected more than "moral victories". Most Vol fans were saying before the Bama game that we could have been 6-0 with one play going different in the 3 losses. I agree with that. However, the same one play difference could have spelled a loss to Georgia. We are just not that good. I will never change my colors, but for the last 10 years, my interest in college football has been on the decline. I am disgusted with the results, not the direction. Because of mediocrity, my interest is racing, charity events, and car club events has grown to surpass my interest in college sports. That is sad but true.
Hearing there is a major rift between Kyler/Kevin Murray and Spavital. Kyler leaving for TCU . That the reason he didn't play last night.
Things might be worse than even Scott thinks...at least according to John Lopez an A&M grad and Sports Radio personality here in Houston. He says the team is fractured, and that the A&M WR coach should be fired today and that Spavital should be on notice. Also he sort of confirms that Kyler Murray and his dad are very unhappy with Sumlin. http://houston.cbslocal.com/2015/10/25/of-all-the-aggie-problems-kevin-sumlin-must-fix-none-loom-larger-than-regaining-his-teams-trust/
Scott where did all this controversy come from? I'm not in tune with the Aggies but they were the up and coming answer to Alabama in the SEC west.
Ralph, the article Terry references lays it out pretty well. I really hadn't heard much negative about Moorehead, but the rest I have heard at least some of. Can't dispute any of it. Sumlin needs to take action now, or this building will burn down around him. If he allows that, he might find himself in the employment line. Aggie powers have been slow to act in the past, but we have too much invested in the Kyle Field and the rest of the program to let it play drag out to a slow death. KS better make this thing right quickly.
