Whoever has been the head coach of truly the best 4-8 team ever in college football must have had one hell of a bad coaching year.

I have been seeing so many ex-UF players in the NFL lately who played under Will Muschamp I had to look back on the 2013 Florida team that went 4-8 overall and 3-5 in the SEC.

I checked the roster of that team and there are 28 players on current NFL rosters!!!

WTF? How in the hell can you go 4-8 losing to Ga Southern in the process and have 28 NFL players on your roster?

    Nice going Willy.

Florida State's Jimbo Fisher could be headed for a similar year with similar talent levels..... 4-8 is not out of the questions for the noles who still play several teams who could or should beat them.

Wasn't Muschamps problem that he couldn't ever find a QB and so you guys never really scored many points. Defense was terrific. BTW in 2012 when he had a great year based mainly on a great defense who was the QB?

How many of those NFL'ers from the 4-8 team are defense and how many offense?

11 of those 28 were offensive players Terry including two Qbs.

Muschamp just couldn't get out of the way of the offense....

I suspect if S.C. ever gets in a real meaningful game the old Muschamp will take over and they will fail miserably on offense.

Who are the 2 QB's...that's shocking I can't remember a single Gator QB from the Muschamp years, unless you're talking Jeff Driskell as one of them. But he spent his career injured at UF didn't he, then got healthy playing at La.Tech.

Also Muschamp claims to have learned a lot from his UF experience, like offense is important! :)

Jeff Driskel was a wasted talent at Florida under Will Muschamp and Jacoby Brissett now with the Bears was on the roster as well in 2013.

Muschamp talks a good game when it comes to him staying away from the offense but his control freak status just won't let him do that.

As I say let S.C. get in a huge game and it will have to be their defense that wins it for em.

I just read a report that claims the head coach and a few players have received death threats!

That's probably run of the mill drunk rednecks more than it is anything realistic George.

At least I hope that's what it is.

The players quotes I read didn't seem to indicate a clear threat.

What I remember is a Tebow type offense with a Driscoll type quarterback.

You Gator fans are much too violent...Sending 20 pizzas a day to your head coaches house and flying banners over your stadium expressing your coaches inadequacies are a proven method...

I saw what George saw on MSN Sports. I don't doubt McElwain, and it's very sad that all of this overflows to the coaches, their families, the players and their families.

Interesting...the UF Ath Assoc said they talked with McElwain this afternoon and he didn't provide any details ...while they don't say it, but reading between the lines they are skeptical I guess.

I'm starting to believe Mac said it as an off the cuff remark not meant to be taken seriously..., but a bad move if he did

I do give McElwain a pass for this season however..... just too many players suspended or hurt.

I am like many many fans however and boosters I'm sure who will not give him a pass for failure in showing enough care and concern about losing Will Grier.
McElwain's ego was too large and he was full of himself with regard to how easy it would be to replace Grier.
Check this out from a Gator scribe:
"You are going to see these numbers this week so I might as well brace you. Will Grier has become a fringe Heisman Trophy contender (he has no shot as long as certain players remain healthy) and I have received more than one call from scribes looking for more detail on his departure. The numbers? Grier has thrown 26 touchdown passes for West Virginia. Florida quarterbacks have thrown five. One of those five was a last-play bomb. Two of them (against Kentucky) were to uncovered receivers. Another was a quick shovel-type pass in the backfield. The last time Florida finished a season with single-figure touchdown passes was when the Gators threw three. It was ugly. Don’t Google the highlights. Two things about Grier — 1. You could see the potential when he was at Florida and West Virginia is taking advantage of a fourth-year junior who has matured as an athlete and a father; 2. Hindsight is easy, but I wonder how many of the last five coaches would have helped Grier out the door at Florida rather than keep him around in what was admittedly a bit of a toxic situation. I don’t know what it was like in the locker room then, but I know what it is like on the field when Florida has the ball right now....
