    That would be a great hire for UCLA. While I know he's able to recruit California for Oregon, it would be much better recruiting for UCLA if somebody like him can really go after the talent in SoCal.

    As an aside though, those of you familar with his wife's activities...can you imagine Mrs. B on the loose in L.A. Whoa... :)

    <t>If this happens, look for Coach B to be kicking the following asses in no particular order:<br/>
    <br/>
    -Warren Beatty<br/>
    -Justin Timberlake<br/>
    -Jack Nicholson<br/>
    -Magic Johnson (who said he was in retirement?)<br/>
    -Half a dozen record and tv execs<br/>
    <br/>
    For the record, I want the bandit Slick Rick.</t>

    After initially saying that they wouldn't consider him, it appears that UCLA has indeed had some discussions with Rick Neuheisel. He's the guy that Bruins fans want the most and they probably deserve him...

    yes. yes we do

    <r>Rick has the appearance of being laid back. Rick loves everyone. He is a warm and friendly face to put in front of the program. Group hug everyone, group hug!<br/>
    <br/>
    The reality is that he's a pr*ck. He could be the perfect antagonist that the Bruins need to Pete Carroll. No more taking the high road. No more PC bullsh*t. I hope they land the golden one and that he snaked Ken Norton Jr from the Trojans.<br/>

    Today's LA Times called Rick Neuheisel the "frontrunner" for the Bruin's head job. If he gets it, the former walk-on lawyer/hustler from Arizona will cause the Trojans more grief than any Bruin coach since Red Sanders. It was Sanders, not Vince Lombardi, who said, "Winning isn't everything; its the only thing."

    Tonight's game may determine the outcome here. Coach Walker has a chance to win the job on the sideline. If he fails, Slick Rick could come home again...

    I've picked BYU, primarily because of the unsettled situation at UCLA and the fact that BYU had a chance to win the game the first time they played at UCLA but penalties and turnovers did them in. They are a better team now.

    I picked BYU for the same reason Sid. However, I'm already 0 -2 in the contest so the smart money should go on UCLA.

    What a heartbreaker for the Bruins last night. Getting a chip shot field goal deflected on the last play of the game is just a tough way to lose a game.

    Thank god for that blocked FG, or I'd be 0-3!!! I went with BYU based on the unsettle coaching situation at UCLA as well.

    Bellotti is out now, so the way seems wide open for the return of Slick Rick..the only thing probably holding it back is the background check by the Gay/Lesbian/Transgender Student Assn at UCLA to certify that Slick has never ever uttered anything but support for this group and it's agenda.

    looking at the big picture

    <t>I wouldn't mind the DC Walker getting the job, but since the PC police got their guy with Kaptain Karl, I don't think he stands a chance. That's a shame because I believe he's a good guy and could be a long term solution to that program's needs. Sadly, he won't get it due to the fallout of the previous regime.<br/>
    <br/>
    So that leaves us with the rest..and if I can't have that guy, I want the short term solution..I just hope he is still the pr*ck he was before. Slick doesn't represent the Southern California that the University's PC police want you to see. He will roll into town, tell you he's going to beat you...and then do it, leaving behind a trail of empty beer cans, bong residue, surfboard wax and a lot of hard feelings. Rick embodies the hypocritical, suburban, laid back yet hard livin LA that I grew up in.<br/>
    <br/>
    Besides, as an ND fan, this guy will be a real pain in Peetey arse. Will they be the next USC-like dynasty? No.. UCLA never has been. What he will be is the guy who ruins their year more often than not, steals their thunder and look like he's having more fun doing it..which will make you hate him more.<br/>
    <br/>
    I miss the old GLBs and I hope Rick (or someone) can bring them back.<br/>
    <br/>
    He was born in Wisconsin, raised in Arizona and went to college in Los Angeles. He graduated from UCLA but attended USC law school He will sell himself as a 'man o the world' and now he has NFL experience to boot.<br/>
    <br/>
    He has had 2 four year runs. At Colorado he posted back to back 10-2 seasons followed by a 5-6 campaign. He then had an 8-4 year before leaving for Washington. At Washington, they complained because he got away from the 'power running game.' The folks at Washington have to be longing for the days of Lambright and Neuheisel. He went 7-5, 11-1 3rd in the nation I believe, 8-4 and 7-6. Hell, Washington fans would kill for a sniff at 7-6 now...</t>

    At one point last night, the talking heads said that if Walker does not get the job he will make someone a heckuva D coordinator. I have to agree. If UCLA had played as tough a defense vs. ND as they played last night, we would have ended up 2-10.....maybe. They were ferocious against a very good BYU offense, but their offense was even worse than ND's this year.

    Actually UCLA played good defense against the Irish. Their offense is what cost them the game. Mo Crum had a career day against them, our defense had 4 picks and some other turnovers.

    Good point, Terry. I had forgotten how our defense actually earned that win.

    yup

    <t>what hurt UCLA was that they lost their starting QB. Then they lost their backup QB. Their top 2 QBs could start for a good many program so the first injury wasn't that bad.. It was losing the 2nd that hurt. Beyond those two, they had a walkon who didn't have a whole lot of experience and a kid they were hoping to keep the redshirt on.<br/>
    <br/>
    Kaptain Karl decided it was better to keep the redshirt on the kid and that move cost them several games over the year.</t>

    re: UCLA QBs

    The Bruins were down to a walk-on and one of their WRs who had played QB in HS. That scenario is possible at ND in the future if Clausen, Sharpley and Crist all go down. The Irish would have to turn to someone like that Goodman kid from Ft. Wayne who had been a HS QB or Montana's kid. Dorrell really blew it by never playing Forcier. The former HSAA will now become somebody else's 4-year starter, while he lost his job by not winning this year when he had 19 returning starters. That was dumb...

    re: Head Coach

    The Bruins are down to three finalists for the job: Rick Neuheisel, DeWayne Walker and Al Golden, the head coach at Temple...
