USC and Illini, UGA vs.Hawaii.If the BCS worked, UGA would've played USC and Hawaii would've played Illini. UGA is taking it easy on Hawaii. Richt has reigned it Knowshon to let a Sr. enjoy his last game. Hawaii need not play outside the Wac. They are awful.
USC/UGA would have been the matchup of the bowl season. The two best teams at the end of the year. Shame it didn't happen.
I love it the way everyone seems to think they know more that the people who vote in the polls and the computers. USC was a good team but in the judgment of the voters and computer guru's did not belong in the Championship game this year. If we are not going to have a playoff and get it down to two teams then I agree with that. As to Georgia, they didn't win their conference or even their division in their conference. So some of the same people that howled when Nebraska went to the Championship game when they didn't win their conference now think Georgia should go. In my mind that's BS. I would prefer a playoff, but if not then I think the two teams that are there this year are more deserving than USC, and certainly more deserving than Georgia.
Did Ohio State beat a top 25 team all year? Right now UGA is the best team in the Country. Like I've said, I can't wait until UGA puts it on the Gators again next season. That Florida defense was fun to watch against Michigan. Moreno and Caleb King will run wild. As for the BCS, College football fans deserve better. USC and UGA would've been the bowl game of the year. Rose Bowl better rethink their position.
I love it too. And you know what I love even more? That we live in a country where we're free to express those feelings. God bless America, land that I love...
Bill <t>I know a few voters and I'm here to tell you that I respect your opinion on football (even tinted blue/orange) more than I do theirs.<br/> <br/> And the 'computer gurus'...Holy Cow.. you don't even wanna know how little some of those dudes know about the game.</t>
Hey Rick I agree with you. However if you are going to find a way to match up teams for the National Championship there needs to be a way to determine who goes! I would submit to you that while you, me and anyone here is entitled to your opinion as to who should play for the Championship that more people agree with the match that we have than S. Cal and Georgia. It's also pretty convenient that you guys just ignored Oklahoma which in every poll out there ranked higher than either Georgia or S. Cal. So hey I agree you, JO'Co, Corey, Tailback and everyone else is entitled to your opinion. I'm just submitting to you that it is an opinion that is far from the majority, especially before the bowls were played. It just appears to me that it would have been far more credible to have Oklahoma in there if you needed an alternate championship. We probably shouldn't forget Va Tech either.
my agenda <t>is a playoff.<br/> <br/> the bowl system is dead. there is no tradition anymore. lets just drop the gloves and see who is standing<br/> <br/> <br/> i would mention OU but figured Terry or someone would have already. I think they gotta beef. I dont know if they are playing as well at the end of the year as UGa or USC. VTech is a nice story in a bad conference. They were plowed by LSU</t>
If we had a playoff that would mean something, but without a playoff you have to at least win your conference or even your division.
There may not be a rule about that tailback but a little common sense would make you think that if you are going to be the best in the country you should at least be the best in your conference. And Georgia wasn't. Besides you are lucky you didn't play LSU anyway they would have hung Georgia out to dry.
I don't think Neb won the B12 North the year that they played Miami in the Rose Bowl for the NC. If I remember correctly, they might have been #1 and got beaten badly by Colorado in their last game of the year, then Colorado won the B12 North. But because of the quirks of the BCS formula Nebraska ended up #2 not even winning their division, Also Texas has a couple of times been in a position where they might have played for a NC without winning their division.
Terry's right <r>Nebraska played for the title, the real #2 in both polls (Oregon) was sent to 'prove their worth' in the Fiesta against mighty Big12 champ Colorado.<br/> <br/> Here's some trivia. How long did it take CU's offense to cross the 50 and how many times did their offense do it in the game?<br/> <br/> <E></E> <E></E> <E></E><br/> <br/> ps<br/> this system sucks</r>
