Did Ethier play yesterday? I heard he was going to sit out. So my question is: If he did sit out, it's not really 29 consecutive games now, it should reset to 0 IMHO. But that begs the other question, did DiMaggio do it consecutively or did he sit out a game or two during the setting of the record? Didn't Cal Ripken Jr. have to go consecutive? Oh that's right, Lou Gehrig never went on strike.
Typical Astro fan....  Andre Ethier of the Dodgers....he's hit safely in 29 consecutive games...DiMaggio holds the record of 56....I heard on ESPN that they might sit him out a game (yesterday)...if they did, then I feel the streak get's set back to 0 IMHO. What's your thoughts?
Ethier is still alive...If his name wasnt announced..he did not play. Pressure will get to himin the next week or so. The Yankee Clipper lives on!
Oh...now I get it. As an Astro fan I would only recognize a player who has struck out with men in scoring position late in the game 29 times in a row.
You don't count games where the player makes no appearance. The counter is NOT reset and it shouldn't be. What if a player is on a streak and the season ends? Do you reset the counter to zero? No. The streak continues. The real problem that Ethier has is the threat that his elbow won't allow him to play in the field. The National League doesn't have a DH, so he might be used as a pinch hitter next week. That would give him only one at-bat per game. DiMaggio had a huge advantage playing for the Yankees. He had many more at-bats playing on a great team. BTW- Andre Ethier is one helluva baseball player. When he got hurt in May last season, he was winning the Triple Crown. Andre, Clayton Kershaw and Matt Kemp have been carrying the team all year, with no thanks to the worst front office in baseball.
Dodger Players might not have a paycheck for May, is there an adopt a Dodger movement to help them out?
     never mind the streak continues. hit into right field... god i just love that kid........
:!: re: Andre Ethier He had three more hits against the Mets in New York today in another Dodger loss. This makes 30 games in-a-row. He is now one game shy of Willie Davis Dodger record of 31 straight games. He also becomes only the 48th player in baseball history to hit in at least 30 consecutive games... re: the worst front office McCourt has been trying to apologize to Dodger Dogs on TV and radio shows, but nobody is buying it. Fans call in to insult him mercilessly and boo him everywhere he goes. He's begging for a second chance and attempting to make amends by watching the game from the bleachers instead of his owner's box, but nothing he does is working. We want him out.
re: Ethier His streak ended yesterday at 30 games: one short of Willie Davis Dodger record; two WEEKS shy of Pete Rose National League record and a MONTH short of DiMaggio... His new streak began today with multiple hits and a HR in New York. The Dodgers have played Ethier in only TWO games this season where he failed to get at least one hit. He's a good one.
