Kesley and I were talking about this earlier today. Boy does this paint Art Briles and Baylor in a bad light. I've been trying to find a way not to judge too harshly, but some crimes don't get a second chance in my book, and this was one of them. Baylor player convicted
Listened to the Waco ESPN guy on local radio...he said in the AM it looked bad for Baylor but that later in the day Baylor released the document that Boise State provided them and all the boxes were checked that indicated he was a student in good standing etc. I'm sure we'll have a long investigation that will reveal that they did everything by the book.
Chris Peterson, Washington head coach and former head coach at Boise State, released the following statement: I heard on ESPN that Briles denied hearing that from Peterson.
I just finished reading an article as to why Jimbo Fisher does not get much respect. Very similar situation as to this Baylor problem. Respect is earned, not to be confused with awarded by institutions as well as coaches.
Baylor hasn't really done anything "wrong" yet. But they sure did keep all this hush-hush. Giving the guy a second chance while the legal process takes its course is ok I guess. But... Now he's been convicted. That should be the end. Time to cut your losses and move on. If not, then Art is Jimbo West...
